gold and silver is useful in a lot of tech so hoarding it would seem a good idea
also I'm convinced it would be useless in a post-apocalypse scenario. Peppers who buy gold coins for barter are lmao

Bullets > food and water > everything else. Medical equipment, medicine, antibiotics.

Liquor and cigarettes would be a hell of a item to have as well
