College students of the generation z are finding themselves unable to read books and comprehend english vocabularyWhat is going on?
cutting out the excess
>give babies phones with internet access>babies get addicted to video short slop>their brains are constantly in high gear>never learn to relax, no patience>reading a book becomes almost impossiblegreat way to destroy a country
I took a hammer to my 2k computer and phone to stop scrollingit worked and i had worse withdrawals then with cold turkey quitting benzos
Article doesn't suggest a majority and the incidence that does exist is more likely due to their definition of zoomer extending to all the browns you shoved in our face and appeased with simpler language which is of course purposely misconstrued. Also most associate the demographic with the extreme latter half or erroneously with gen alpha like >>16997687, which is certainly true in part but not typical to the whole (predominant phone usage is of course common, but early exposure isn't). Most zoomers in the west took computer class in grades 1-4 and were made to play mavis beacon, math blaster etc. (but more often alt tabbed to y8/miniclip/youtube) and consequently used the pc when pressed to interface digitally, whose interface being less sluggish and information being more dense naturally results in lengthier dialogs being engaged with. So while from a literacy standpoint the vernacular constriction is likely accurate, there's probably a pretty severe gradient, as the technological conditions zoomers and to a lesser extent alpha have beeen subjected to are much more variable.
>>16997642pedagogy being stupid, as per tradition
>>16997642ever since No Child Left Behind it's effectively impossible for a child to fail out of school no matter how stupid they are or how little they participate. The obvious result is going to be mentally retarded assholes earning a high school diploma without knowing how to spell their own name, having spent their entire school career trashing the bathroom and punching their teachers
Sink or swim.
>>16997642>anxious and lonelynot>unqualified and incompetentTells you an awful lot about modern university education. >>16997823The University of Connecticut admitted a girl on an academic scholarship who was illiterate even though she was a top honors student at her high school. Turns out that she relied on text-to-speech and speech-to-text so she never learned how to read or write. Both of her parents were illegal aliens with no English skills despite being in the country for several decades. Once discovered, she found a lawyer to file a lawsuit against her high school for denying her a quality education. On one hand, the high school knew and supported what she had been doing to avoid becoming literate. On the other, she knew she was gaming the system. That she was able to graduate with honors and that a top university gave her an academic scholarship makes you wonder about the millions of less egregious cases happening where qualified students are passed over for marginal students that the system favors.
>>16997801Anyone who "grew up with" the internet post-2003 is suspect. That's all.

>>16997864The point of education hasn't been to teach for almost 100 years now, it's to condition behaviour for having the youth prepared to be good little wageslaves, and waste their time so their incapable of doing anything else, it's basically behavioural babysitting with grade 2 arithmetic and political indoctrination sprinkled on top. English being treated as second history makes it plain enough, but it's most evident in how physics is gated as a senior year course because you need calculus to use newtons formulas. But you don't need to be capable of predicting the exact pinpoint results to understand the underlying principles and thus have enough of a gist of what will happen with general principles, and physics demonstrations require some of the most basic equipment while also being the most intriguing, Additionally most people are more curious as a child than an adult, so exposing them to these concepts which they then could wonder about or notice passively about the world would be far more beneficial the earlier you do it. It's both oppurtune and easy, but it's gated behind calculus because I guess you need to the exact landing location of something in order to know it will travel in an arc.
most universities abandoning the standard test, not introducing any exams in their place, and admitting students by vibes: the results
>>16997864if the school knew it and dindu nuthin, it's 100% the school's fault and she is right to sueshe's a dumb kid, and it's the school's job to fix that
>>16997885newton's physics can be taught at some level without calculus. it's done in many places (i dunno about the u.s.)sure, you won't be able to calculate the trajectory of a ball rolling on a merry-go-round and similar contrived garbage. but you don't need calculus to understand f = ma, not really
>>16997903If she spent more time learning how to read and write and less time cheating, she may have actually earned a place in a college and an honest wage, instead of trying to game the system a second time through litigation. I hope she loses and has to pay court fees.
>>16997907sure, but that's not the point. the school knew. they should have interfered
>>16997905US here. Never took calculus. Physics was required to graduate. The guy you're responding to is a dingus.
Seconding that. Aside from the social bullshit, school in US just teaches the subjects. You're free to pursue anything you want on your own time, most HS' have a library. And most cities have a public library that is free for registered students, down to the 5th or 6th year usually.People choosing to be dumb is their choice. They get exploited by the kids who didn't. In USA that is by design.
>>16997910Interfered how? Fail her? That's not allowed anymore. Schools are pretty much powerless now. The only fuckery here is that she graduated with honors. Also she shouldn't have even been in the US to begin with since her parents are illegals and set a shit example for her by never learning English themselves.
>>16997642Gen X and Millennials literally killed the educational system.
>>16997885>almost 100 yearah, yes, Prussian pedagogy was famously discovered in 1930.
>>16997823>ever since No Child Left Behind it's effectively impossible for a child to fail out of schoolYou are ignorant. No Child Left Behind has been overturned since the mid-2010s. The youth of today were raised under its replacement law. Children of NCLB are in their late 20s and beyond now and are the ones whose intelligence is being used as the standard to claim that the newer generations are falling behind. No Child Left Behind is being ignorantly blamed for failures it didn't commit, when in fact its operation was the exact opposite of today's education laws, prioritizing stringent competency standards measured according to Standardized Testing.
>>16997900It's not just colleges. If colleges didn't admit the masses of contemporary subpar students, they'd have very little of a student body at all and would go out of business. The failure begins in pre-collegiate schooling.
>>16997938>People choosing to be dumb is their choice.This.>They get exploited by the kids who didn't.I hope that happens.>In USA that is by design. The design is the jews pulling the plug on a future of societal maintenance by sabotaging society's ability to produce maintainers through a functioning education system.
>>16998132Leftist ideology killed the education system by deprioritizing intelligence as a social divisor. Now, you aren't allowed to fail no matter how stupid and ignorant you are, so even the uneducated get their participation trophies, or more if the grading scale continues to slip toward lower and lower standards of "excellence".
