I'm not from the US and currently taking what I guess would be Calculus I. Do americans really learn about derivatives and integrals in high school? I swear everyone keeps saying it's basic math
>>17002513There is calculus and there is “calculus”. You can make things as hard as possible. You can make things as abstract as possible. You can make things as rigorous as possible. Just because they share the same name “calculus”, etc. doesn’t mean they are the same course.
>>17002513About 16% of highschoolers take Calc 1.Keep in mind, the average american struggles with reading a complex graph or calculating proportions and fractions in an embarrassing way.
>>17002513in Eastern Europe we have intro basic calc in the last grade as wellAre Western Euros so dumb they dont even study calc in high school? SAD
>>17002594>About 16% of highschoolers take Calc 1.Where? In the countryside?Living in a major city, that's unthinkable. Pretty sure it's required Junior learning.
I'm from a south american shithole and we learn that shit in high school lmao literally math university first years is differential calculus on banach space lol
>>17002513
>>17002728That is population wide data for the entire country. If you took Calc1 surely I don't have to explain beyond that.
>>17002594So it's optional? You don't need to do it to pass year?
>>17002740Why are spics so bad at math then?
>>17003927Not only is calc 1 not required to pass highschool in the US, neither is trigonometry. You only need up to algebra 2 as a baseline to pass highshool in the US.
