actually if we are talking about northern european blonde selection it is the opposite. Due to larger female population (males dying from hunting big animals), male started to select for rare traits like blonde hair and blue eyes because of their inherent rarity, thus creating the condition for their expression in northern european population, it's not ideological, just sure economics
