I have tried asking AI, but it cannot find anything. Can anybody help with etymology of Aposemitic?https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Aposemitism&defid=18485288
>>17013833It's in the link you posted you silly billy
>>17013838You don't understand what etymology is.
>>17013849It's the study of word origins and evolution over time.As your link spells out:>apo-Meaning "away from">semiteJews>-ismState of being or thoughtStaying away from Jews.As your link also notes, it's a play on the word "aposematism" which is >apo->sematMeaning "sign">-ismA sign to stay away.
>>17013833I suspect "aposemitic" is only used in contrast to the much more common "antisemitic". Its etymology is basically that of "antisemitic", with an ad-hoc substitution of the prefix. You're unlikely to find a serious etymology for such an uncommon and contingent word. I think it's more accurate to think of it repeatedly branching off from "antisemitic" as needed, rather than having its own continuous etymology.
