10 years ago this board was full of IQ threads. My IQ was 144. Well I went and got a PhD in math in those 10 years. And now my IQ is 133.

Ted?The equation .999... = 1 as is understood in the mainstream sense is actually to be interpreted as ".999... gets arbitrarily close to 1 as you add more 9's", not that it actually equals 1. I have a feeling you could learn non-standard analysis (something I don't know, which makes infinitesimal rigorous) and it might be capable of distinguishing between .999... and 1, although I'm not sure.
