Is anybody here familiar with variational calculus? I wanted to solve for the brachistochrone if you account for friction. I have an expression for the velocity of an object sliding down a chute with a shape defined by the function y in terms of x, where [math]\mu[/math] is the friction coefficient, and I need somebody to help me minimize the time integral assuming this velocity.
