holy moly dead general. starship became boring before it even reached orbit.

Did they ever figure out why the engines didn't light on the first flight test 13?
>>
>>17023461
that was the first time they showed a jeet on stream, so i think we all know why
>>
>>17023461
They haven't said publicly, but I believe from what we know that the rocket called an abort (for some reason) mid engine startup, because of this some engines started up enough to produce flame while others didnt. I would expect to hear more about it during the next episode of the "starship" docu-series

Boost back burn

33 raptors on it
Probably the boost back burn did it
This is the second flight of block 3 the big boy. That was the first attempt at it
Probably 11-13 gs. That kind of shit has never been tried. The first flight was just testing the block 3 now they are pushing it to be reliable and reusable.

they still haven't explained how starship is going to land and take off from mars

they will need huge legs to provide ample clearance from the ground which is huge amounts of mass

they will need to refuel at mars in order to have enough for landing

they can't bellyflop or aero maneuver on mars because the atmosphere is too thin so it will have to do a sustained LM-like burn

it will destroy any nearby infrastructure when taking off from mars, now try taking care of that headache with hundreds or thousands of these things

First few landings will be on raw terrain and won't take off again.
Humans will build landing platforms for subsequent rockets that will enable them to lift off again.
>they will need huge legs to provide ample clearance from the ground which is huge amounts of mass
You vastly underestimate the size and weight of these things.
>they will need to refuel at mars in order to have enough for landing
Duh?

The issue is that it doesn't do anything special and fails to keep the truth musk set. Even India has private space launch now not america can compete with lies.

Don't worry, see they are gonna heckin' learn so much from all the data and then next time it's gonna work! Trust the plan! 1000 SAARSHIT launches per year by 2028! You have EDS if you think otherwise

Hilariously, the next flight is likely to be *actually* orbital instead of *basically* orbital

lol, 3 solid and 1 hypergolic stage to put up <300kg. congrats to india's private sector for reaching 1950s levels of space technology

It's possible to replace the tiles, but it's not optimal.
They're meant to be reusable.
>>
>>17024299
Why can't shield replacement be automated?
>>
>>17024354
the best part is no part
>>
>>17024299
Remember the first landing, when the aft flap MELTED AND FELL OFF. It's fine. Rapid improvement. Even more rapid that they landed one intact and can inspect it.

The next best part is a part that stays on the ground

its crazy how China was having medieval famines 50 years ago and now it's close to surpassing the USA technologically

Its crazy how much you chinks shill on here after a near flawless flight
>>
>>17024382
>near flawless flight
nta but, seriously?
did the 2nd stage land on terrain? did the first stage even land before crashing? isn't it supposed to be recoverable?
>>
is it still floating?
think they can tow it back to land?

the soviet union went from serfdom to nuclear super power in less time than that
>>
>>17024299
All those tiles seem to have been broken at the extremeties where they meet each other, which means the issue is with the space between them. If they find a better way to seal those gaps the issue might be resolved
>>
>China: nailed landing on first mission
>USA: failed to landing even after 13 flights
Hello, The Chinese Century.

Anon how many years and failed attempts has it been? It's like calling Russia's invasion of Ukraine a blitzkrieg, starship has been making test flights almost as long.

Truth, but they dropped the ball.

Sorry for being late but anyone know what that thing above the horizon is? Just the moon?

For a reusable second stage? This is incredibly fast.

It probably can be for the regular hexagonal ones. But the edges and curves would be a lot harder to automate.

my body replaces itself every 7-10 years
>>
>>17024635
That's self-maintenance. But the human's body ability to repair damage is very limited.
>>
>>17024636
machines generally can't self repair to any extent
an excavator can't change its own fluid lines or anything, whereas my muscles can repair themselves, even after being pierced or severed
>>
>>17024659
Yes, but like I said, this is limited. Piercing will leave scar tissue, and certain cuts cat damage nerve tissue, permanently impairing mobility. And if a limb is severed, you can't always reattach it. And blunt damage to the head can just lead to instant death, depending on force and location. There is also the issue of spare parts. They have to come from other humans since we can't makes them artificially yet. And all workplace injuries are a big headache from a legal standpoint, too.
>>
>>17024377
It’s not, lmao.
>>
>>17024404
Actually it never left serfdom after that.
Even now, russia is basically still a neo-feudal shithole, what changed in the USSR is that russia had a bunch of more succesful developed countries as colonies that it could feed off of.

A giant rocket being able to land in the open ocean by just tipping over on its side and just float on the surface is fucking insane anon.

an excavator simply "dies" from similar amounts of damage
you're being silly
