Explain nuclear energy to me...
using only food analogies
>>
you and your family are starving. you need food, and you're being told all that can be offered is fish. it's not filling and you're sick of it.

ultra processed foods are invented with extremely dense calories. you can easily consume so much of it you become a fat fuck. you need stopgaps to limit the amount you eat. furthermore, you're going to be shitting your brains out when you consume it, and you need safe plumbing for the waste.

but it's tasty and easily meets the world's hunger

It's Game Day, you've invited all of your friends over to watch the match.

I need you to picture a rod of enriched uranium as a bowl of salsa, or maybe a nice hot queso dip (or whatever your particular favorite is). On its own, it doesn't really do you or your friends much good, it's a bit hot, but you're not just gonna sit there spooning salsa or queso into your mouths, that's fucking gross. You need to catalyze a reaction.

Enter the chips (free neutrons). On their own, not that great. A little salty snack, but alone all it's gonna do is make you feel a little bloated and unstable, not take you to flavor town. But, dip a chip into the dip (attach a free neutron onto the U-235) and an amazing transformation occurs, giving it enormous potential for satisfaction.

Of course, you can't have just one chip. What kind of faggot eats just one chip? And by being the first to dip a chip you set off a chain reaction. Each dipped chip, each crunchy bite, each subtle "mmm" from you and your friends causes someone else to pick up a chip and dip that chip. And suddenly hands are swarming in and out of the bowl, dipping chips in a runaway reaction.

We're starting to lose balance.

That's where beer (boron control rods) comes in. The presence of beer controls the reaction. Even the best multitasker can't dip and eat a chip and drink a beer simultaneously. You have to choose between chips and beer, which slows down and regulates the chip dippery.

Too much beer, and you risk stopping the reaction entirely. But, remove beer from the equation, and the reaction becomes uncontrolled, proceeding at such a glutenous and grotesque rate that you start spilling dip, snapping off parts of chips, or double dipping until the dip becomes unpalatable and you have a meltdown over the mess you and your friends have made of things.

It's like boiling water for top ramen but instead of a stove it's uranium rods and they put a fan in the chimney to catch steam. Also they don't put in an egg or cut up hotdogs even though it makes the ramen taste better

....this is why GPU's and RAM is unavailable
