I think a distinction between a luddite and non-luddite with such genuinely valid concerns needs to be made. It is mostly in what they propose to solve those concerns. If you have valid concerns and propose to use technology to solve those concerns, you are not a luddite. If your proposed "solution" is simply to slow down technological progress (a self-defeating notion), then you are a luddite.

This has support in the historical analogy: Luddite commies hopelessly failed, but their concerns were to high degree addressed by subsequent non-luddite commies, who embraced mechanization and factories for their own goals, instead of fighting against them.
