I did a chemistry undergrad and feel like I wasted my time but since I did a lot of material's science classes I formally qualify for an applied photonics Master's at my neighboring university.

Has anyone in pure math or theoretical physics moved in low level security programming here or cryptography engineering? I have been trying to leverage formal software verification on low level cryptography primitives (with a focus on PQC) but I have a feeling I am going to need to be connected to actually getting a job doing this or pivot to general security engineering.
