Is it normal to not understand this or should I just desist from ever achieving something meaningful in life?
>>17032758There's no shame in not speaking macaca.
>>17032758That's pretty easy to understand
>>17032758Yes it is normal to not understand it at first glance, or second. If you really want to understand it, grab all used definitions and all information from the slides before and grind through step by step
It is literally (a+b)^2=a^2 + 2ab+b^2 you Brazilian monkey.
>>17032758i don't even speak your language and i understand what it's showing in under 10 seconds lol
>>17032786Yes but with partial derivatives and fucking Taylor's series. I don't even know log and didn't know trig until one month ago because I slacked off during high school (depression and shit), I'm so fucking doomed.
>>17032792So tell me what do you think I'm learning.By the way, what do you study?
>>17032795i'm a physicist working with the lhc data, i.e., statistics. it's just telling you how to propagate uncertainties in w when it's a function of only two variables (it gets more complicated with more variables). next slide might even say something about how if x and y are independent, then the covariance term drops out. either way, this could apply to fields of physics, computer science, economics, psychology and more. you have a good professor btw, it's organized intuitively.
>>17032798Holy shit, spot on. It's good to hear that I have a good professor. Not totally unexpected since I'm at Latam's best university. I just wish I were smart enough to understand it. Maybe I shouldn't be here.
total variance equals sum of all variances. how is this hard to understand retard?>Demonstraçao opcionallol. proof of low quality education
>>17032758its schizo math.
>>17032758>>17032793>He didn't follow the guideNgmi.
>>17032897Esse cartão é extremamente nada a ver, mas o pior é que eu já li boa parte dos livros recomendados. Estou lendo o FME agora. Deveria ter lido antes, com certeza, ou simplesmente ter me esforçado na escola, que aliás usava os livros do Iezzi e foi uma das melhores do país no enem.
>>17032793>I don't even know log and didn't know trig until one month ago because I slacked off during high school (depression and shit)Well in that case I would chill the fuck out and keep studying. It's easy to understand for anyone vaguely familiar with statistics/probability and vector calculus, but if you aren't familiar with them then simply keep studying.
>>17032758I don't mind math, but high-level stuff like this makes my brain hurt. whenever I'm feeling smarter than everyone else I just look back at stuff like this to remind myself that no, I am the retard.
>>17032941Knowing me, there's a big chance I won't understand calculus and vectors even after I learn high school math, which makes me wonder why and how the fuck I came to like physics in the first place. I remember thinking mechanics and modeling natural phenomenons in mathematics was very cool back in 10th grade, but looking back now, aren't only high IQ people supposed to become interested in physics and other exact sciences? I'm a midwit though, so how did this happen? Sorry for the weird wording btw, I'm really tired.
>>17032758Cheer up anon, we all have been there, once you catch up with the meaning of each operator you'll be fine, ignore all the projecting retards that call you a retard
>>17032946Well if you're studying physics for your own enjoyment, good for you for actually doing some work. If you can understand high school maths I believe you can eventually understand calculus. If it's stressing you out then I suggest you need to take a step back and try to "enjoy the process". Appreciate what you like about what you have learned. Write/draw a graph or something you like and stick it on the wall, or whatever. If your study is stressing you out it will eventually become difficult to continue.
>>17032960I'm considering moving to business because I'd have a lot of stability. It's almost impossible to fail a business class and it would be just as useful, if not better than physics for my career (that's how it works here in Brazil) unless I went for a very technical area. I will see how I do this semester and then decide if I continue in physics or not. There's also a chance I don't pass the exam for business school and have no choice but to continue in physics (which i guess it would be bad for me if i truly am a dimwit, because it would only stress me).
if you come here looking for advice you'll be turned in the wrong direction.channers ain't your friends and few actually have degreeshaving said that nothing is impossible. Keep grinding and you'll gradually find yourself picking up the languageI personally had to retake some classes as I'm more gifted socially than I am intellectually,
>>17032793>I'm doomed omg it's over>>17032804>sou da USP tah ;))>>17032928>estudei nas melhores do país tah ;))>>17032946>It's so over. I'm doomed. I won't even try (because it's already over from the beginning)It just happens that you are a viado do caraio. Saia do Reddit, medite, tome um banho gelado e tenha BRIO ao menos uma vez. >>17032964I see. Well good luck my Brazigga.
>>17032793>Taylor's seriesit's a fucking first order linearizationthink of it as a total derivative, where you are estimating the function near a point (x0, y0) by taking derivatives along the coordinates and multiplying them by tiny deltas in the different directionsthe rest is just super basic algebra and apply the definition of variance and covariance to make the result more readable
>>17032967Portuguese is just wrong Spanish
>>17032974Last flower of Latium, wild and beautiful,You are at once splendor and tomb:native gold, which in impure gangueThe crude mine conceals among the gravel.I love you thus, unknown and obscure,Trumpet of loud clangor, simple lyre,Which holds the roar and the whistle of the stormAnd the cooing of longing and tenderness!I love your wild vigor and your fragranceOf virgin forests and the vast ocean!I love you, O rough and sorrowful tongue,In which I heard my mother’s voice say, “My son!”And in which Camões wept, in bitter exile,For genius without fortune and love without radiance!
