Midwits love to cope that being great at x y or z cognitive task does not make you smart (be it literacy or maths or chess or younameit), but the reality is that if you excel in that area then you brain absolutely is exceptional in at least one way, and if your brain is exceptional in one way then it is more likely to be better in other areas as well. The brain isn’t an RPG level chart where you can have 100 Str but 1 HP. Things work together, and if your memory is exceptional then your pattern recognition and problem solving and etc are almost certainly above average or exceptional too. The only exceptions to this are people with savant syndrome from high level autism or traumatic brain injuries, but that’s 1 in 100k.
