US, France and China have AIs. Where is Germany's? In the past decades they were more into engineering and math than computers but they should nevertheless realize this is important.
>>
>>17034811
Germany's past in computers includes Konrad Zuse's Z3 (1941) and Karl Steinbuch's artificial neural network (1960). (Btw Steinbuch was a member of the NSDAP, which is perhaps why his contributions aren't as acknowledged.)
>>
Down under, I hear we are getting some AI's as well. Fair dingo!
>>
Germans hate themselves too much and are too overly cucked to do anything productive anymore. Thanks Merkel!
>>
>>17034811
They don't have a digital capable secret service
Ai was forced down the throat of these states by these agancies by waiving fear mongering about the other countries that's why money is being thrown at it with no prpfitability in sight
>>
>>17034841
Forgot to say the reason why. With enough power to compute statistical analysis you can basically create surveillance states that record daily moves by every human in the planet, and through the sorting of the data, they can uncover any secret anyone has
>>
>>17034841
>fear mongering about the other countries
God I hate this so much "we can't stop working on AI because otherwise China will overtake us"
I wish we didn't live in an age of every other country leader being completely unqualified for the position, then maybe we could come up with something like nuclear non proliferation but with AI
>>
>>17034811
Stable diffusion is German. And of course we must not forget the foundational work by Hochreiter and Schmidhuber :)

lmao nice try, Mistral is so shitty it shouldn't count, it's use cases are 0 because it's beyond retarded.

It's so sad Germans are so insignificant nowdays that they have to bring up stuff people did 100 years ago
>>
>>17034812

He was pretty right wing even after the war yes
He also seems to have said
>galicia is nice, way too pretty for the pack of jews and gypsies living there

Not really, but surveillance state yes

German here
People with real abilities are not making it into the right positions anymore in Germany. Its all about who talks best and fits best into the left liberal city mainstream.
So you got people who can talk the best and the most bullshit in the positions which need to develop something. A good example is Isar Aerospace, they just talk and talk for 10 years yet havent even managed to launch a rocket into space, while having secured and used a billion dollar.
Adn thats just about the german men. So then you have all these mandatory women quotas which fuck up productivity extra hard.
Then you have DEI who hire foreigners preferably which is even worse, these people may not even speak german and complicate things extra while just beeing some generic jeet.
Also you can not make it in germany with work, the system and taxes are designed that way that you pay a real marginal tax of up to 70%. And if you earn so much you have to pay for way more stuff if you have children too. Its all constructed so that you cant get rich. So why give your best? Its then only these talkers and self promoters rising.
That all works in the usual fields of soft science, big corporations and media because there is no hard competition. But in fields where actual competence is needed and hard competition only small companies in rural Germany where the things i described do not apply can still compete.

>German here
Here too, would add that the tech scene is full of (usually US paid) scouts that harvest talents. They promised a few million $ funding if i move "6000 km to the west" and know several good talents moved as employees.
>>
>>17034966
>Then you have DEI who hire
Me was talking to a Prof, at a big research center over here. After 15 min. talking about high speed measurements over multilayer PCB's on the phone he wanted me. But as i told him i am an German white man he just sadly commented that would not work with HR.
>>
>>17034811
>Where is Germany's?
Oh, we have an AI mag in high gloss where projects are one page on the end. The rest is about talking heads and meet and greet events.
>>
>>17035057
HR can't do shit at a German uni unless your faculty sucks donkey dick
>>
>>17034811
There is not a single reason Germany should buy into LLM garbage at this time. Anyone with even a basic understanding of real world economics understands the best thing to do is to wait for this meme tech to not operate at a loss requiring indefinite money printing and a rigged puppet stock market to last.
Slurp the cheapies when the bubble bursts and then wait another year for Chinese open source models to catch up with the sharts.

They're a socialist totalitarian country now so they will fall behind in everything apart from poverty rates and human suffering.
>>
>>17035378
Human suffering has no magical inherent value (unless it's used as a leverage for antinatalism)
>>
>>17035272
>research center
ah, nvm then
>>
I think they are planning round 3 because they have been very quiet for a while and they have form with this. They are very proud of everything related to STEM but silence.
>>
>>17035053
This makes absolutely no sense. Is it a case of burying your heads under the sand or is just some cabal of delusional ideologues funding this? Don't they understand that china is going to eat your lunch on these industries that will eventually run out of talent just like they blundered with russia's cheap energy policy. Do you retards not have tv or newspapers that discuss such issues or are you banned from that too?

>just print more monopoly money and build a bigger computer
Type A strategy bullshit. Made to be forgotten in a few years. These people have learned nothing from deep blue, and don't have to, because they can just build data centers that are not compliant with their own laws as long as it owns the chinks (= government gibs) and lets Nvidia pump and dump the economy even harder. I have heard these talking points a thousand times before anon, AGI in two more years, it's not a bubble, the progress is definitely going to be exponential rather than logistic THIS TIME (for the first time in history). Delusional, small-minded thinking. And any criticism like this will get me is smarmy dismissal. I won't even get to gloat when the bubble bursts because all these sad little contrarians suddenly get "truth fatigue" when they are proven wrong and want everyone to move on.

It's a nepotistic feudal structure where the serfs working full time on half paid jobs while the tenured professor sacks in all outcome.

(cont.) If you wantto study an medieval benefice system, well the German Universities had conserved that for centuries. I was invited to one of the University meets Industry and after the chancellor of an 15000+ student university has done his klecture i had known it is hopeless. They are not even aware in their bubble that they are 10 years back. I lliterally needed a drink to digest that experience.

Cool. Hopefully it goes somewhere. The lead engineer (I think) at OpenAI during most important development phase was an Aachen graduate.
>>
>>17036158
German universities arose from horrifically inbred institutions as you describe, where positions are essentially inherited and only a small elite has access while pretending excellence. But why look at the past when you have modern examples like ecole normal, oxbridge or ivy league?
>>
>>17035441
We don't have an anti-American government like China. Merz is only interested in making sure that America triumphs over Europe. We have to wait for neo-Nazis to seize power before things get better.
