He was following in the wake of Edison and did some things that imitated Edison.But Tesla was not a scientist and not even good at documenting what sorts of tinkering he did. He was very much just a copycat and refined of what Edison was doing . In the end, Tesla was just an Edison imitator who ended up with a lot less success.
