I’ve always wondered if dementia is mostly downstream of age-related genetic degradation. Which is why it’s next to impossible to treat; how do you fix broken genes? Not just dementia either; recently there was a study that suggested humans could likely never live beyond 140-180 years because of genetic mutation from age
