There is a fringe but possible theory that "Planet X" is a Primordial Black Hole. We know of such things even without gravitational lensing as there is still a gravitational pull that will and does influence the observable bodies in the system. But a black hole won't really orbit Earth but instead the Sun as explained below.

Looking for Flares: As a primordial black hole moves through space, it will occasionally swallow comets, asteroids, or dark matter. When this matter falls in, it produces a burst of light called an accretion flare.

Using Next-Gen Telescopes: The upcoming Vera C. Rubin Observatory will scan the deep sky every few nights. Its high-resolution camera could spot these tiny flashes of light.
