Another important part - that bacteriophage was synthesized from scratch with assistance from AI. Before that, virus engineering was simply about editing existing bacteriophages. This is a virus from scratch. How many steps before creating actual life from scratch? And that's if don't consider viruses life. Viruses are hard to pinpoint and people still argue if they're life or not. Shit's fucked.
