I have little respect for theoretical physics. Mathematicians are ok. At least they created their own imaginary world and it is consistent and occasionally maps to reality.Experimental physics on the other hand is the real deal. I have a friend teaching it at uni and he says the whole field is about clowning on theoreticals and telling them to either present the data with a test proposal or fuck off to the blackboard.
