You probably had this weird assumption that you're gonna understand everything right away like in high school. You have to grind. Pump exercises like crazy and it will become much easier eventually

To be fair, the jump from high school level physics to undergrad level is very big and a shock to many students. Especially the amount of mathematics involved - yes, I'm looking at you E-M.

A lot of the physics question at university level are really about knowing what to integrate (the integrand + limits of integration) and how to integrate it (algebra skills + integration techniques + relevant theorem and laws).
Especially true in EM.
You just need to do a lot of problems to get the intuition of what to do.

While back-of-the-envelope estimation, order-of-magnitude, dimensional analysis, etc. are all good things™. They are less relevant in exam context. It's better to know what to do, and do it correctly, since you have limited time anyways.
