Genuinely can't believe I used to envy mathematicians. All they ever did was brute search. Such a gay field.

Luddites did this to themselves.

But the thing I cared about was whether or not it's possible to artificially replicate thinking (core human skill) and they basically stopped even trying. Instead, they made "AI" about exploiting the sheer scale of modern technological infrastructure to scam retards. The threshold I'm interested in wouldn't even be anywhere in your pic.

Thinking has been replaced, luddite. The intellectual paradigm of the future is to solve everything using guided evolution:

Step 1: use statistical model to hallucinate a huge number of vaguely plausible mutations of human approaches
Step 2: use external validation tool to pinpoint why the candidate solutions fail (go to Step 5 if a working solution is stumbled upon)
Step 3: use statistical model to select the least bad candidates
Step 4: do Step 1 but mutating the output from Step 3 using feedback from Step 2
Step 5: collect your Fields Medal/Nobel Prize/ticket to posthuman technocrat utopia

It's that easy. No thinking required. Can't wait for them to use this technological breakthrough to develop new stupidity vaccines with AI fans acting as the external validation tool.

"thinking" and "consciousness" are just shitty adaptations that blind fucking luck + natural selection converged upon to let biological machines perform better. Intelligence 2.0 does not need to ape them.
>>
>>17055171
Sorry, but I just don't care about your psychotic delusions. I care about whether or not it's possible to replicate thinking artificially. Which AI company is making any progress on this?
>>
>>17055131
Keep your damn solutions
they don't actually do anything anyways lol
mathematics is the most pointless field

>All they ever did was brute search.
clearly not since AI does the equivalent of tens of thousands of years of human brute force work to churn out these solutions
>>
>>17055058
>significant progress
translation: AI failed to solve it despite wasting hundreds of millions of dollars.
>>
>>17055058
Did you honestly believe mathematicians write formal proofs all day?!? No, we brute-force all solutions by assuming an answer and working backwards hoping we picked right this time after a lifetime of failed answer choices before.
Then we reverse it and clean it up in Latex and stuff.
QED.

Wrong again, Elon.

That's not how real numbers work rajeet
>>
>>17055510
Oh no, you can churn and churn on some real numbers and still never get there.
Look up “Irrationally Computable Transcendentalism”.

here is terence tao talking to a chatbot. looks like they are making good progress at getting them to think.

Looks like they are making good progress getting the americoon public to part with what little capacity for thought you "people" still had.

That is indeed how many mathematicians describe proof creation. A little bit of brute force search + a lot of intuition.
>>
>>17055084
This but unironically and genuinely.

Ai is literally fake, if it were real, people would be making adobe and office products for Linux, portal 3, terraria 2, cod zombies, discord alternative, actually implement modules and reflection for C++ compilers. Alas the software landscape is unchanged and everything is still a ram hogging ad filled bloated chromium webapp

I can never get it to implement flexbox, which is just a single function, or a mesh Boolean that preserves uvs and works on ngons, even with the Claude pro plan
