Can you console me about death, /sci/entifically speaking, so I can finally have the courage to face it? I just.. Need the truth, once and for all.

What do you see out of your elbow? What do you taste with your fingernail? What do you smell with your knee? What do you hear with your shin? What do you think about during a dreamless sleep? What happens after you die?Hint: All of these questions have the same answer.
>>17058873why do you think you matter? there's billions of people to carry on having conscious experience
Ok, here's the thing, and here's how I got over it. You can't change how much time you gave left, meaningfully. The only thing you can change is your mindset. You can spend the rest of your days fretting over your limited time, and squander it worrying instead of living. So... why worry? You're here, may as well enjoy yourself. That's what I tell myself. Now I just have to actually start living this and stop worrying kek

There's no consolation except some evidence that reincarnation might exist which supposes that a (perhaps eternal) soul also exists. The evidence is some case studies of children remembering their past lives on the other side of the globe and pointing towards their graves and saying things about their past families whose language by the way they no longer speak - why would such a memory exist? The soul is somehow just conjugated to the brain, it is an entity apart from it. There's also a nice movie about this " I origins" whether you accept these anecdotes as evidence is up to you. It doesn't make a grand difference but yeah, the science is not very consoling to a soul weeping its assumed mortality
Death doesn't real.>Just as you went out of the womb, likewise you will go out of this body; just as you will no longer enter the womb, likewise you will no longer enter this material body.>Just as, while being in the womb, you did not know the (things which are) in the world, likewise when you are outside the body, you will not know the beings (that are) outside the body. >Just as when you have gone out of the womb, you do not remember the (things which are) in the womb, likewise, when you have gone out of the body, you will be still more excellent. You will be reborn again in Nous, in a new context, unknowable to you now (as you are now unknowable to them). t. knower

Here's the closest to an actually scientific answer you're going to get:https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/aging-neuroscience/articles/10.3389/fnagi.2022.813531/fullA patient happened to die during a full EEG. They recorded results that were consistent with prior mouse studies where they recorded brain activity in the events leading up to death. I can't be fucked to read the study and I'm not well versed enough in the field to provide my own analysis anyway (not to mention this was a single event with many confounding factors so take any results with a grain of salt), but the popsci summaries you'll find online and the study's conclusion mostly agree that it's consisent with an episode of intense recall and dissociation. Ie. "Life flashes before your eyes as you lose your sense of self" may be a real thing and not just a cultural anecdote.

>>17058873you can't really experience death. only the pain before it. from your perspective you'll just pop back into some circumstance that is possible, from your perspective at that point.so basically there is no "rest" and shit, or like..escape. you'll just experience again the very next moment, and what waits you there might not be as kino and comfy as it is now here (depending on your situation obviously). so for me it's not really worth the risk, unless things are bad. like really seriously bad, not dumb depressed teenager "bad".
