The fact that electromagnetism was discovered by two men who were polar opposites seems quite ironic.
>>
Poetic, not ironic.
>>
Hans Christian Ørsted, André-Marie Ampère and Michael Faraday docked with James Clerk Maxwell when he was young.
>>
Imagine making a world changing discovery only to have a Nazi pedophile slap his dirty fucking name on it then him and his inbred family threaten and try to murder you and people you are close too then demand you pay him for the privilege.
NOT A PENNY, EVER.

Not discovered, revealed by God. He's got a sick sense of humour actually

Edison was more innovative than both Orsted and Ampere, he was known to have tried tens of thousands of recipes for the filament used in light-bulbs, before finally settling on the ideal composition, which provided a burn time orders of magnitude higher than the failed filaments. The generators and wiring used at the time also underwent extreme improvement, going from crude tabletop novelties used in university classrooms and bare iron to massive steam and hydroelectric brushed generators, braided cloth insulation, armored cable (BX), and conduit wires, enabling power distribution to expand from a few meters to hundreds of km, lengths never before seen while incorporating newly discovered ideas from his contemporaries such as alternating current.

Such improvement-by-doing and experimental results translating into industry, marketable products and finally, economic fortitude was not seen in either of the two men in Op's picture

Edison died with a net wealth of over $250 million in today's money, having started from almost nothing, making him a far more successful scientist than either of these guys
