>>17063418The thing with the immortals was, they weren't really keen on breeding. You know how it is said that if you were immortal, you would one day see everything there is to see, and experience everything there is to experience, and then what? Well, they then had children. Together with their immortallity, that was just fine. But when the mortals came, they made life so interesting and ever changing, that the immortals never bred again. And while they were immortal from the mortal perspective, they weren't literally indestructible. They could still die, even though they were ageless, much stronger, hard to hurt, and able to recover from severe wounds, they still all eventually died. The last of them were gods to the mortals thanks to their long age, and inteligence, and then it was over.

>>17063418People in this thread are pretty ignorant on this topic. Neanderthals didn't lose. They interbred with anatomically modern homo sapiens and their DNA still lives on. Also 100,000 years ago, even homo sapiens looked very different from today. You wouldn't find any phenotype in the world today that was around back then. Evolution is a constant thing.

>>17066973smartest post I personally think it was a simple case of Sapiens outbreeding them. The Neanderthals, Denisovans and other hominids that were around may have had smaller numbers than sapiens. Either way we all interbred several times, so its just semantics to think of them as something that dissapeared or lost to us. Evolutionary speaking we all succeed. Also all the variants of more modern homo should be sub classifications of the same Homo sapiens genus.
it's interesting we are going through the same thing they went through, seeing the introduction of new species in their geography along with a new climate lmao, i just realized we are the neanderthals and ai is the sapiens encroaching on our territories of thought in the wake of global warming and other crises we've been sweeping under the rug

>>17067008only correct post.
>>17067206i bet the neanderthals thought so too when they saw how relatively physically feeble the average human was, they couldn't have imagined the hordes of different tribes that were waiting to overrun europe with their foreign ideas and hunting methods and languages, etc
>>17067220Neanderthals are too poorly understood for you to jump to these conclusions. They also contributed to our genome several times in history. So their interactions with sapiens are not well understood. And yes bro your glorified calculator will change everything. Just like the abacus. Go play with your fake a.i somewhere else.
>>17063418Ive been shilling a book 'Sapiens' that has an interesting theory.TLDR: We outnumbered them. Its claimed that what we arrived at first was ability to form larger groups. Evidence of this is evidence of trade; our graves had stuff from hundreds of miles away & neanderthals didnt. Neanderthals were grouped in famiilies, we were grouped in 'nations' or w/e.
>>17066973>>17067084The reason humans outbred them is because Neanderthals practiced heavy inbreeding. Think like Alabama on steroids, children born to father-daughter relationships, first cousins, etc. It didn't help that the neanderthals were basically completely solitary. They found evidence that some neanderthal groups just a few miles apart never interacted or interbred across a hundred thousand of years. There's evidence that neanderthal-human hybrids were prone to blood clotting disorders inherited from the neanderthal line because all the inbreeding gave them genetic disorders. There was a lot that was wrong with neanderthals, but least among them was their hyper reliance on large megafauna as a food source which experienced declines just as humans moved out of Africa, which is probably what drove human-neanderthal contact in the first place.
>>17067231>which experienced declines just as humans moved out of Africa,...what a coincidence...
>>17067227It seems like it came down to numbers and we simply were more robust in reproduction. It's definitely viable but its hard to say for sure. Other possibilities such as disease, conflict, environmental issues, could also explain what happened with Neanderthals.
>>17067232Also fun fact: if you look at the neanderthal ancestry in Papua New guinea, it shares identity by descent with neanderthal ancestry in Europe. This means that the human-neanderthal interbreeding is ancestral to before humans even arrived in these places, so humans interbred with neanderthals *then* split up into the groups who would go to papua new guinea and Europe, which are 8000 miles apart.
>>17067226being mad at me won't change the reality of ai, chud, go be a luddite somewhere else

>>17063474This. Neanderthals had much smaller tribes. Being bigger means nothing if its 15vs100.
I've seen people argue about how there's no neanderthal mitochondrial dna in humans.Rather than the usual claims about it, I suspect this is a result of haldane's rule of y chromosome incompatibility.
>>17063418>Why did they lose?Humans has unique highly sought 'talents' that Neanderthal lacked
My personal theory for the disappearance of neanderthals is one we can actively observe in other modern hominids. Look at the facts. Surviving neanderthal DNA all comes from the males, but why? well, let's take a look at modern interbreeding between aboriginals of australia with europeans and asians. The vast majority of interbreeding between these groups is between females with foreign genetics and male abos courting them. Why? because of attraction cognition. Once self aware of how utterly hideous the majority of abo women actually are the males naturally moved to reproduce with their desired female imported from elsewhere. It's a subtle genocide nobody is even acknowledging at this moment. The same thing happened with mass migration out of the middle east into south east europe and the mountains of asia. As neanderthals were forced to migrate southward due to climate change and interact with HSS the neandermales obviously found greater interest in the women of those foreign groups. This is also around the same time period humans are believed to comprehend the aesthetics of fashion in what they wore to survive, vanity became the next driving force of evolution to what we have now.
It's pretty clear neanderthal women were hideous as fuck and dropped on a dime as soon as more aesthetic / athletic competition came to replace them. It's often been suggested "reproductive issues" played a role in that. but is really feasible logic given the range neanderthals had? are you telling me ALL those women just had bad eggs? no. bullshit. It's often assumed women hold all the leverage in reproductive value, but that is only true when women live upto men's selective pressures of visual stimuli and such was the case for most of history. Incels may argue the modern reproductive economics otherwise but that's only because modern civilization created the flip with a massive surplus of low value males and abundance of high average attraction amongst females through thousands of years of selective pressure. Before that nature weeded out the rest and the fittest brutes took what was necessary. There was no time or room for women to play games picking from a million males online when functional males were the standard back then. The extinction of neanderthals is a reminder of what will happen to us when reproductive value isn't kept balanced. we're already on the precipice of that disaster only in the inverse now.
>>17066160The basal eurasians didn't have neanderthal admixture and they seemed to be quite capable at abstract thinking.
>>17067237But they did pick up some denisovan as they they went through asia, and indirectly some erectus.Anyway, apparently the Out of Africa 2 group lived in the persian plateau for about 20k years (starting about 65kya) before they started spreading around eurasia, and it was only about 50kya that they received the neanderthal admixture... so they were living in isolation from neanderthal for at least 10k years...I believe it's thought that the neanderthal admixture gave them greater adaptability to eurasia, not an intelligence boost. The neanderthal admixture happened between around 50.5kya and 43.5kya. After that, when sapiens encountered neanderthal, such as in western europe, they didn't mix. There was an isolated group that didn't receive any direct neanderthal admixture, known as the basal eurasians, and they didn't mix back with the neanderthal admixed sapiens until about 25kya.This means the basal eurasian group was separated from the rest of sapiens from as late as 50kya until as late as 25kya... so they were separated for about 25k years. Basal eurasian admixed groups were instrumental in the introduction of farming in the near east after the younger dryas.
>>17067543Seems they arose 60000 years ago, while the maps in >>17066973 suggests it is all evened out now. So what signs of abstract thinking did they leave behind, 60000 years ago?
>>17067619They separated about 50kya from the other sapiens and they reconnected about 25kya.The groups that come from the middle east and ended up dominating in western europe all had admixture from the basal eurasians (yamnaya had it via the caucasus hunter gatherers -- the anatolian farmers also had the admixture). The Ubaid culture was one of the earliest groups identified with strong basal eurasian admixture, they emerged about 8500kya in mespotamia, as a pre-sumerian culture. It's thought that the persian gulf was not flooded at during the upper paleolithic, and the basal eurasians may have been hiding from the neanderthals in a "persian gulf oasis", which flooded at the end of the younger dryas. It was some time after that that the ubaid culture emerged. The ubiad culture made pic related creepy reptile figures. They had farming, mud brick houses and they domesticated various animals. They evolved into the sumerians.See, the OoA2 group had neanderthal admixture, but the basal eurasian contact "washed" away some of the neanderthal admixture. Only western eurasia and the middle east received that washing.
