I know people who love him, and others who have a good few gripes pertaining to what he considers worth covering and the pace at which he covers it. I personally found him to be an elegant segway into the grad problems, even if I had to supplement him a bit.
I would have preferred more exercise hints in an undergrad textbook desu. Becomes annoying a third thru the book.
my harvard math prof couldn't even reproduce a proof he forgot in the lecture in the book. his pride prevented him from using the book. he instead wasted half the lecture trying to remember what to do. undergrad book btw.
>>17064877OP here. Not being able to admit a mistake on an undergrad proof only shows terrible character. I get that it's an undergrad book, but it's still a transitional text into grad and it's not abnormal for even excellent mathematicians to flub this stuff at times.
