I'm talking about usually uncomprehended subjects by normies like Flat Earth, Microchip pressings actually being Demonic Sigils and Runes, Moon Landing faked, Vaccines etc.
The list goes on, the knowledge on the subject is there and available to be studied yet some folks seems to latch onto their personal explanations for something they don't fully understand out of personal comfort or bias. What's with this phenomenon?

Conspiratory thinking has nothing to do with knowledge. People do not arrive on blatantly anti-reality thinking because they got convinced by some facts, they do so because they channel their frustrations with other parts of their life into such things. Most conspiratory thinking online is just jewish well poisoning but out of the "true believers" almost everyone is simply anti-authoritarian. They have a healthy distrust of the government but they channel it in retarded ways such as claiming earth is flat specifically because government says it's not or believing a facebook post specifically because facebook labels it as misinformation. Such thought process can't logically be defeated, any argument based on facts comes from a position of authority thus reinforcing the opposite position.

because human cognition is bounded and brains do not unlearn things
technically all understand is a simplification because complete understanding runs into the infinite regress of negation under self-reference

Conspiracy thinking is essentially a subculture at this point.
There's a lot of comradery involved in the spaces where conspiracy theories form. They get together and shoot the shit theorycrafting and attributing motivation to things nobody in the room understands at a professional level.

How probable the take is is really secondary to the point. It's about telling and interesting story and bringing a fresh take to the table. Which is why debooking is treated with hostility. You're not teaching them anything they actually give a fuck about. You're just being a buzzkill in their eyes.

For every genuine 5150 case who sincerely and dogmatically believes the government is broadcasting gay thoughts into his brain, there's 10 normies who are just shooting the shit with their friends abd having a good time.
