It’s all gone downhill ever since people stopped using "Asperger's" as a diagnosis and simply mixed “functional” autists with drooling retards, when both extremes of this assumed single disorder can’t even be compared. Same thing with this brand new ADHD/ASD = AuDHD that merely picks on the symptoms regardless of the origins to tag it as a combination for double medicationThere are many other illnesses that have varying degrees but they are never called Spectrums, You don’t see anyone calling anemia a spectrum. You have sickle cell, you have thalassemia (alpha and beta) and other anemias. Looking at the symptoms and diagnosing a spectrum is like seeing all wheelchair users and calling it “Wheelchair Dependency Spectrum”, but it’s not the same being born with deformed legs and having them cut off in a traffic accidentIt would be understandable in the aspect that scientists still don’t know the exact causes to Autism / ADHD, but bundling it all into one “disorganized brain disorder” already sets up an improper mentality to this disorder by inducing experiments and analysis of both in a single cause. Might as well place all mental disorders under “Hormone deficiency spectrum” for fucks sake
Mental illnesses sound made up. I've never seen one.Probably another scam to sell more strap-on electrolyzers or something.
ur on duh gay spectrum lol!!!!!
>>17074704>anemiaAnemia is a spectrum, it just has a clinical cut off point. If you are 1 g/L over the limit you are almost as anemic as someone who is 1g/L below and your performance is almost exactly the same and the treatment is the same, one just isn't called anemia.>Looking at the symptoms and diagnosing a spectrum is like seeing all wheelchair users and calling it “Wheelchair Dependency Spectrum”Mobility impairment is a spectrum though. You can be anything from fully healthy to requiring full time wheel chair. Some people have a bad knee and need a cane for instance or can walk for a short distance but not a long one.Mental disorders are a spectrum because they are hard to measure and because intelligence and severity of the disorder have a wild effect on the actual effect each one has on your life. For instance you would be traditionally classified as some kind of retard but are you an imbecile or an idiot is hard to quantify.
>>17074718>Mobility impairment is a spectrum though.Yes, but the spectrum is the symptom, not the underlying issue, and diagnosing someone out of the symptom and calling it Mobility Impairment "Spectrum" will have you mixing someone with a torn ligament with someone with arthritis because both need a cane to walk. My point is that the behavioral symptoms may not have the same origin, thus segregating them into more specific diagnoses as how Asperger's used to differentiate High functioning/"masking" autists from the nonverbal autist was a better framework to analyze and treat these mental issues. I also still believe in the separation of ADHD and Autism until it is proven they have a connection besides having similar SYMPTOMS instead of ROOTS
>>17074704every time we think youve reached the boundary of every mental illness you push the limit further.
>>17074704They aren't. If someone told you otherwise, it was someone who benefits personally from drugs being pushed instead of flushed.
