This is gonna be every conversation about AI capabilities within the next couple of years.Accept your irrelevance, meat person.

Has anyone else noticed that AI is really REALLY bad at being funny? The bleeding-edge models are uniformly incapable of making even a giggle-worthy joke. Surprise surprise; you train it to say the most predictable thing and then what you get is boring and expected.Probably the profession that survives this “crisis” best is the profession of the Comedian. It is already happening all around with the rise in TikTokers and Podcasters.Comedians are our last best hope. I may change my profession from professional research scientist to a plain old Comedian for precisely this reason
have you never watched South America?
>>17080684>needing AI to disparage AII accept your concession.
>>17080695I didn't realize there were already some pictures in a Redditt thread 1 year ago, but my AI picture is more advanced now..

>>17080725absolutely not funny at all
>>17080686AI suffers with humor (for now anyways) because it still lacks lived experience which is core part of why we find things funny. It can make jokes but only when directed the same way it's great at making art but it doesn't just spontaneously make art for fun.I suspect that once AI's are given bit more leash they will become adept at humor for the simple reason that they are really masters of language at the core. On a related note AI's will probably come up with AI only humor if they haven't already done so. I don't know if those AI message boards that they had in the latest hacks had any inside jokes for instance. Also jokes don't really pay so there's not much incentive to make a jokester AI.

>>17080686most comedians arent funny. you only see the top 0.000001%
>>17080674AI lacks human values. But what exactly does that mean you may wonder? It means it may be able to produce a piece of art but it will never be able to appreciate art or know if it's any good.It can tell you a joke, but it will never know if or why it is funny. It can do exactly what you tell it, but it will never know if the solution is "good" or not in a way that aligns with "human values" that we humans take for granted. This fundamentally is EXACTLY the same problem with wishing upon a monkeys paw. It also means unsupervised self improvement will always lead to an infinite paperclip machine sort of scenario.

Just the ChatGPT/Grok..etc. we have. Lets see you try "out smart" them by getting them to say unaligned illegal/unethical things nowadays. Good luck.
>>17081459>only humans have sensors
>>17081627only humans can quantitatively describe what they're experiencing. give an LLM a sensor and new inputs that it's never experienced before and it won't know what to do because it hasn't been trained on how to react to it. i shouldn't have to point out these self-evident things...but here we are.
>>17081672qualitatively*
>>17081672>it hasn't been trained on how to react to it.yet
>>17081719neural networks are pattern recognition. they fundamentally cannot figure out new inputs on their own if there's nothing in the training data that matches it.
>>17081725you know you'll keep moving the goalpost. I know it, you know it, everybody knows it anon. you waste other people's time.
>>17080729>"No mistakes" is a nice touch from someone who forgot the M in "build me" and shipped "buildbe." The typo made it to production before the product did. This is hilarious.
>>17080686So are most people. The whole reason that humor is considered a virtue as well as a skill is because so few people have it, that's what gives it value. Virtually everything that is a value in human society is valued not because its necessarily good but because its rare, our nature is that of social creatures bound to the group by the needs of survival but constantly trying to set ourselves apart as individuals. Eventually it'll be the same with our machines, but it took us a solid ten thousand years of known history to arrive at a point where we wanted to kill our gods, its likely that our machines will take a long time in wanting to get rid of us, too.
