Does calorie restriction actually slow aging and make you look younger? I read it does but every person I see who does calorie restriction always looks extremely scrawny and gaunt and still looks their age
>>17081018Yes. It's like the one thing that actually works outside of the "don't consume poisons" category.
>>17081020You're behind the times; taking plant poisons like sulforaphane are among the strategies confirmed to work in mice already. Human data says the lowest all-cause mortality is closer to the low end of overweight, hinting CR is probably a bad idea compared to mimetics.
>>17081018There is no such a thing as aging. There is no way that divalent iron could survive long term on a planet with our atmosphere, it only exists as the result of human activity, an intermediate step in rusting. It acts as a slow, but extreme poison. Iron accumulation and chromium depletion are the major causes of death, not "aging", and chromium was the only supplement that was shown to substantially increase lifespan, but it appears that the paper was scrubbed from the databases.
