No idea which board to ask this. It’s meetup related so I figured here is best. I’ve struggled meeting my people in this city for nearly 10 years now. My situation is unique because I moved here at 16. I graduated straight into the pandemic and missed out on college socializing. I entered a bout of depression and only got out of it by cutting out my mother out of my life. I never learned how to drive because my parent never taught me and the system is setup so that it’s expensive to learn to drive as an adult with no friends. I am in college in my senior year. I have struggled so hard. I used to be very introverted but learned to talk to people. But even it’s futile. There is something about this whole city that makes making genuine friendships impossible. The only place where I met people that wanted to hang out was in a homeless shelter of all places. Most people are allergic to going out and getting to know someone new here. There’s a 3rd place I frequent that tried hosting a painting class for $25 and it cancelled because I was the only one who signed up lmfao. I have tried many hobbies to no avail. I genuinely think the only solution is to finish college and save up enough to get out of here. What can I do?Before you say get a car, I cannot. I am in college which takes up most of my time. The money I make from part time is not enough to get one and pay maintenance on top. But I have lots of free time on weekends

>>35375747If you can't make friends in LA then your life is just fucked
>>35375747Isn't it a known thing that it's harder to make real friends in a city as artificial as LA
>>35375949dunno. from my perspective the reason why it’s so hard to make friends here is simply because i can’t just go outside and be like “imma go to the cafe today”. and nope i gotta drive my ass over there if I want coffee. can’t do that tho because owning a car is pretty expensive so I’m confined to my immediate area which is pretty unwalkable. wish the city would invest more in running actual events in city parks so people actually go outside instead of watching TikTok all day
>>35375747>There is something about this whole city that makes making genuine friendships impossible.Everyone is thinking about how much money they can extract from you, to keep up with the cost of living. Everyone. I've been to Beverly Hills for looksmaxxing procedures and it was like talking to a finance bro or daytrader rather than a doctor. Everyone is hustling to make ends meet, even those who are already multi-millionaires. They will rent out their rooms on airbnb to tourists. No one is honest about their intentions with you. You bump shoulders with someone by accident they will not say anything even if you say sorry. Talk to a stranger in DTLA they will keep walking because they're afraid of being killed by you. At least in NYC you bump into someone by accident he'll tell you "watch where you're going you asshole". Both places are for the rich, and only for the rich. If you are below 10mil networth you are basically playing the goyim version of hunger games surrounded by spics, niggers, and asians.
>I wanna make friends lots of friendsurgghh I hate social people so much
