Is it even worth being on a private tracker nowadays? Jackett provides far more results for 99% of media, usually in much higher quality, and you don't have to jump through some retarded webmaster's hoops to use it. The speeds, while sometimes slower, aren't enough to ruin the experience. I genuinely can't think of a reason anyone would need private torrenting anymore.
private trackers just provide more 'premium' forms of media. For example, 'no virus' cracks of games or better quality movies. I don't really see a use case for the average user who just wants to torrent. It's mainly for virgins who are so paranoid about their ISP watching them. But at that point why not just use a seedbox or a debrid service, why even torrent on your network at all?
>>1382458As someone who was really deep into the private tracker game for a while, no, it's not really worth it anymore. Most private trackers are completely useless, and the few that aren't are only for getting extremely niche shit slightly sooner before it ends up on usenet anyway. Also drop jackett and use prowlarr
>>1382506>private trackers just provide more 'premium' forms of media. For example, 'no virus' cracks of games or better quality moviesFalse.
>>1382580>Also drop jackett and use prowlarrWhy?
>>1382682oh you're right, they also provide more dolphin porn, my bad.
>>1382458how do I use Jackett? Just downloaded out of curiosity and I'm in the website it hosts on my IP but I'm not entirely sure how to use this.
>>1382458what's jackett whats prowlarr
>>1382458as someone who's been on private trackers for ages, yes. I'm already in the good trackers with loads of buffer. If you want the biggest library and the best transparent encodes it's worth it(8-20gb for a 1080p movie). If you think YTS looks fine and mostly want mainstream popular stuff it's probably not worth it. The path to the best trackers is harder now than it was, and probably won't ever get any easier either. It takes a certain level of 'tism for sure
>>1382756for basic usage jackett can replace all the qbit search plugins and has a ton more sites. They can both be plugged into a whole automation stack and do other stuff toohttps://github.com/Jackett/Jacketthttps://prowlarr.com/
>>1382580>Use prowlarrNo, don't do it, it's time to move away from *arr, they are all sucking with lazy devs. Also prowlarr is not as packed as jacket. I already did my private sonarr replacement in c++, it's way faster and handles metadata aggregation in abetter way, it also mitigates the need to have a sonarr for series and other for anime.
All the private trackers I'm on are for niche media like wrestling from the 80s that isn't WWF. Can't find that shit anywhere else so yes, very much worth it if you're into niche media.
>>1382458Higher quality than a private tracker? I mean I don't know what trackers you're on but that seems doubtful if you're on the best ones. You can get hybrid Remux releases on some trackers that take the better audio from one release and sync it with the better video of another release. I guess it just depends on what you're after but if you're a film buff who watches more than just the latest stuff there is no replacing some of those sites.
>>1382458I like them because some of the people who run them have direct access to the scene. DCC for example often uploads torrents literally seconds after that item pre's (releases). But yeah if all you want is mainstream games or movies you don't need to be on a private tracker.
I like my torrents seeded. I like my torrents to download fast. Therefore I use private trackers for both the mainstream and the obscure. It's all about the path of least resistance. I don't want to deal with a bunch of hassles when I am trying to find what I want. Lots of people on this board are asking for things I can easily find, things that aren't so easily found on public trackers.By the way insisting you will find better quality from public sources is massive cope lmao. If you're lucky you can get the same quality as private trackers. But higher quality versions tend to attract less seeders on public trackers because of the file sizes.
>>1382740IIRC you gotta enable all the trackers you see on that webUI page, one by onethen you can either use the webUI's search box to look up torrents, or use jackett in qbittorrent's searchhttps://github.com/qbittorrent/search-plugins/wiki/How-to-configure-Jackett-plugin
>>1382458If you're talking PTP or the other "Elite" trackers, I have no idea, but TL, MAM, NBL, ANT, and OPS have good selection, are easy to get into, and ratio is a breeze after a few months.
>>1382458I torrent on my phone, without a VPN. I am unbothered, ready.
I use public and private torrent trackers and I still regularly have to source shit from p2p networks like soulseek or just buying shit. So yes private trackers often suck but they're still one more place to find stuff. If you can find everything you need on public trackers you must have some plebian ass taste I don't know what else to tell you. I buy stuff just to be able to watch it all the time.
Well now, for mainstream media, like new movies or Netflix/Amazon TV shows, yes, there is no need to use private trackers if you just watch to watch something new.But for example if you aim to "collect" your favourite films and have them in the highest possible quality. i.e. 100GB per film for a 90-minute movie, or your favourite anime at 5GB per episode quality... yeah, you are not going to get those on public, either at all, or they will be unseeded or veeryy sllooww.>>1386794>TL, MAM, NBL, ANT, and OPS>are easy to get intoDo you maybe have an invite for any of these? I used to be on Cinemageddon, BlackCat Games and a few others literally 15 years ago, but life happened in the meantime and I dropped out of private tracker game.I want to find a new home on one now, but they are literally impossible to get into now.And some media, like 80s flicks, b-movies, you had on Cinemageddon, you really don't have on anything public. Thanks
