Hi all, looking for media specifically in x264 8-bit depth, since my GPU is old and can't transcode much else :)I'll start: High School DxD S01-S04 x264 8-bit Opus Dual Audio (Uncensored) - SUBTICKmagnet:?xt=urn:btih:b421eb3073291b40e4568f796513b7b84145c264&dn=High%20School%20DxD&xl=47794921909&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Fopen.demonoid.ch%3A6969%2Fannounce&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Fopen.demonii.com%3A1337%2Fannounce&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.opentrackr.org%3A1337%2Fannounce&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.torrent.eu.org%3A451%2Fannounce&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Fopen.stealth.si%3A80%2Fannounce&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Fexplodie.org%3A6969%2Fannounce&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Fexodus.desync.com%3A6969%2Fannounce&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker2.dler.org%3A80%2Fannounce
>>1404395What's your GPU/CPU?
>>1404423OP here from another PC. Here are my Jellyfin server specs.
>>1404464The GTX 970 uses a hybrid model for h265/hvec, but your cpus are quite beefy so it should pull through if you try.Another option is turning off transcoding in Jellyfin, that way decoding will be done on the edge devices, as long as they support the appropriate codecs, it'll be just like playing a normal file on your device.Lastly, you could get a used GPU off ebay. For example a GT1050 4GB supports full H264/H265 transcoding, they're about $100.Another option, if you want more longevity, is getting a more pricy intel arc A310/A380, which offer full codec support up to and including AV1. Though it costs ~$200 and you would have to make sure your motherboard support Resizable BAR (ReBAR), some custom patches exist for older motherboard, but they come with stability issues.
>>1404466Yes, I totally hear you. GTX 970 **can** do H265 8-bit depth but it struggles a lot so I can bear with this for now. Also saving up for a 5080 to put in there as this PC will be used for much more than Jellyfin
Another one. >>1404490Why do you need jellyfin to transcode?why not just pass the video files as is?Pretty much any end device should be able to decode most video files.
>>1404490Isn't the E5-2697v2 an older CPU missing several newer instruction sets, specifically AVX2, BMI1/2, FMA3, and AVX-512.Combined with only supporting DDR3, will this not cause a significant bottleneck for the 5080?Especially considering the motherboard probably only support PCI-E 3.0.
>>1404395brownest thread on the board
>>1404494Yes, I hear you on this, but I'm not the only user and there's people on here with genuinely dogshit internet that need a lower quality.
>>1404496Yes it sure is an older CPU, but the only thing that keeps me from replacing it is the experience I have on my main PC with a 9950X3D that has ruined my opinion on AMD, and I don't quite know what Intel is capable of nowadays, so I'm holding on a CPU upgrade until I have made my choice. 5080 mainly for H265 or AV1 and a shit ton of 4K transcoding, and yes, also ((some)) machine learning.
