Warriors keep their hair short for two reasons. To wear a helmet, which is by far the most important part of armor if you are fighting with weapons.And to prevent hair pulling when not fighting with weapons. If it was just about keeping hair out your face you can use a hair clip or any number of ways to tie up one's hair. However if you were on active duty then part of your gear would be a helmet, which means you need short hair to wear it properly. HELMETS!
