Who is the biggest loser in the history of table-top games? This can include greentexts.

>>98006107
Once decades ago I was playing a game of 40k I immobilized my opponent's transport halfway up the board. He literally took off his hat and stomped on it like a cartoon character.

This dude. Imagine playing Cryx and still cheating.
>Nudges his caster (Denny ofc) so he can charge and feat.
>Nudges his helljack into the scoring zone (pic rel)
>"Accidentally" adds a full unit of bane riders to his list, a full 11 points up.
All on camera.
Now I'm not going to say that everyone who played the dragon factions were shitters, but the correlation was absolutely there. Every warmahordes player has a story about a Cryx or Legion guy who was a prick, something about the factions drew them in.
>>98006389
Null deployment was a big meme in 5th edition. Most factions didn't have a massive infiltrate unit like Kroot, so it usually worked. Nobody was taking 6ft. of scouts for instance (tables were 6'x4' at the time), but you could incidentally take that much Kroot easily. This was back when Kroot were better than fire warriors for the points so you took plenty. 1" base +2" coherency meant you could easily daisy chain Kroot units for area denial, shooter only needed 24 Kroot for 6ft. and taking 30 was common.
Wheels still could have gotten out of the bind if he had any vehicles to tank shock the Kroot loops (forcing them to move), but he didn't and shooter knew it. Most null deployment was from massed drop pods, which also would not have been stopped by the Kroot. This was a perfect situation for this exact trick, and wheels deserved it.

Playing chess already makes you a big loser. The biggest loser is whoever happens to be the top chess grandmaster.
>>
>>98006875
The guy was always a sore loser unless the game was really close. Part of the problem was that he would build his list for maximum firepower and not for scoring units. He was always trying to win via clearing the table so once objectives became a bigger part of the game he was always at a tactical disadvantage.
>>
>>98006976
>I don't know half the things you're talking about
Dead lingo from a dead game, no worries.
>please tell me he got disqualified and banned for life.
Oh ho ho, he fucked up big time. Redactions are not mine.
>Upon reviewing the evidence, the Committee feels reasonably sure that [name redacted] was cheating in this particular game and that his game play was very sloppy and completely unacceptable. The Committee has already ruled that another of [name redacted]’s games was considered forfeit due to use of an illegal list. Taken together, these incidents suggest that [name redacted]’s game play is inconsistent with the standards we expect from WTC participants.
>As a consequence, we rule that [name redacted] is disqualified from the 2014 WTC, and that he is ineligible to compete at the 2015 WTC. This means all his games are marked as losses and he forfeits any right to the Championship title.
Every game he played was marked as a loss, which fucked over his entire team and dropped them from winning to third. It didn't matter that he was barred from participating the following year, nobody wanted a liability like that representing their country in an international tournament. The hate he got online was heavy and deserved and his defenses were flimsy and sophomoric. He literally pulled the "It's just a game bro" defense, which went poorly. He WAACfagged too close to the sun and got burned, hate that it happened but ya love to see it. That he was playing Cryx was just icing on the schadenfreude cake.
Then MKIII happened two years later and the game imploded. A story for another time, or at least another anon to tell.

If adjustments this small, like millimeters different, can be game-changing, how does anyone know that their pieces are in the exact right spots at all times?
>>
Are there any good youtube channels that go over this sort of drama in table top games? I don't care about the kind of drama where X had an affair with Y at ZCon 2013, but people cheating in their hobby or having a meltdown over it is always entertaining to hear about.

>how does anyone know that their pieces are in the exact right spots at all times?
By not touching them except when they are making a deliberate move. On most of the table a few mm wouldn't matter a lot, but if it means the mini is inside or outside an objective area for points scoring, or charge range to an enemy, or cover, it matters more. So just don't touch the minis except when you're supposed to.

>>
>>98010148
Skilled cheaters rarely get caught. So the incident we have solid proof from are a biased selection. I think a lot of skilled cheaters will have cases where it's not really obvious to an outside observer if they did it on purpose or by mistake, so they get away with it.
>>98007809
I don't know about yt, but this article on warphammer has a few anecdotes if you scroll down.
From the comment section:
>My funniest cheating experience was back in 5th Ed. Opponent was charging me through a forest, and at the time had to roll 2d6 and pick the highest. I saw him roll a 1 and a 2, failing the charge. I momentarily looked away, and then saw him change BOTH dice to a 5 and a 6. I just thought it was hilarious that he felt the need to change both dice, and not just the one needed.

There is a reason why competitive wargame are such a retarded concept.
One thing is playing to win which is expected in a game and the other is the tournamentfag mentality that treat wargames as some kind of sport.
Fucking bumping the table by accident can change the board state. Now introduce intentional cheating and entire thing quickly devolve into stupidity.
>>
>>98010219
>2% are cheater
Nah I'd say that 99% are cheaters. Every fucking event I've participated has tournamentfags with dice that conveniently have massive and deep faction logos on the 6's side.
Hardly see anyone using regular dice, that will not land on the 6's side due to the 1's side being the heaviest side of the die.
Constantly had to check their measurements because they always did the "accidental" start the movement from the front of the model and end it with the back of the model.
Some how they always confused the stats in their favor.
Add to the regular cheating garbage nu 40k mechanics that encourage this behavior with all their gatcha mechanics and the entire event experience is just ass unless you are also a fucking cheater.

No need for casino dice, just regular dice.
It's this kind of dice that are the issue and this one are not the worst kind I've seen. Some have the faction dice even deeper.
If used with regular dice you might not notice it, but this crap tend to roll on the logo side way to often.
>>
>>98012076
hilarious that they just make loaded dice but legal. wont roll 6s every time, but just enough to gain an edge

I have the genestealer dice. Two version actually, one with the logo on 1s and another with logo on the 6's
They don't always land with the logo facing up, but it is noticeable enough that I simply use them as token now. The fact that almost every tournament player use some form of this kind of dice is just tells me that they are all trying to cheat.

>>
>>98012076
Have you ever tried, or read the results from someone who tried, to roll them sufficiently many times to estimate how fair such dice are in comparison to common gamer dice (i.e. dimples/holes not casino dots)? The difference should be really small, the 6 is already the lightest side since it has the most dimples. I would be surprised if the advantage is substantial.

It's also not uncommon for both players to roll the same set of dice, but that's a different matter.
>>
>>98012250
On a regular dice its not noticeable and as these anons mentions >>98012211 >>98012110 this kind of dice there is so much material missing from one side that is rather noticeable.

Good dice increase the size of the 1 dot to compensate
>>
File: 601982026141.jpg (84 KB, 492x640)
84 KB JPG
>>98012554
Or are kind of small to compensate like the 12mm dice. They are usually small enough that even if all the dots are the same size you wont get noticeable results. There might be some loaded dice in there by the nature of how they are made, but it wont be like 16mm or bigger logo dice.
>>
>>98012250
i have done this. on a set of space wolf dice my friend was using. did 1000 rolls just to get a graph, I had finished my team game early and was just sitting.
like i said above, its not a massive change, you're not getting 50% 6s.but the end chart ended up something like -4% of ones, +4% for 6s. really not crazy, but that means roughly in 18 rolls, you'd get 1(2) 2(3) 3(3) 4(3) 5(3) 6(4)
Its subtle enough to never really get caught, but its a definite advantage. Obviously not for all faction dice, but if its a deep cut there can be an advantage. wouldnt bother calling anyone out, i might just be autistic.

File: images.jpg (5 KB, 280x134)

>>98012806
i should really get a pic related, but its more just for curiosity. I've seen some people use hand made dice, and those always fascinate me in terms of how unbalanced they are
>>
>>98011825
Maybe once snooker dies as a sport the umpires can find employment autistically memorising the position of warhammer models
>>
>>98013104
Or not try to force wargames into something they are not suppose to do.
But then again retards have try to make competitive D&D.
>>
>>98012192
Should be noted that Hans (buttplug) had a history of cheating in online tournaments before this. Still, this whole incident was incredibly embarrassing for Magnus
>>
>>98012192
Wait, so the guy started a rumor that completely ruined this guy's reputation based on no evidence? That sounds more like the guy who started the rumor is the loser.
>>
>>98012806
That's a lot more effort than I would expect anons to have made, well done honestly. That excess of 6 and fewer 1 on n=1000 is a strong indication of unfairness.
I agree that I wouldn't call someone a cheater for merely bringing dice with symbols. But maybe I'd suggest we both use their "cool" dice. Neutralize any advantage without having to discuss if their dice are unfair.

Assuming this story is true (which I can definitely believe it is), it's a hilarious example of the kind of autism you see on 4chan but rarely in the real world.
>>
>>98010215
Skilled cheaters aren't using loaded dice on every single roll, that's my point. A "skilled cheater" is probably pushing the needle 5% in their favor. It's still bullshit, it's still cheating, but the idiots like that guy are hilarious because they think somehow no one will notice that the laws of probability have gone out the window.
