Hey, let’s create a compendium/library of resources for world-building that all the world-builders on this site can use, for settings for tabletop campaigns/sessions or otherwise. The /wbg/ thread has some in the opening post, sure, but what others would you recommend, be they books, random generators, podcasts, other websites or programs, etc., and for races, magic systems, geography, and more? Good luck with your endeavors, and happy hunting!
>>
>>98027613
>Worldbuilding Resources
Yeah, its called a Library. Go read books published before the 90s.
>>
>>98027613
>podcasts
do zoomers really?
>>
>>98027613
op i really need you to understand that people aren't going to contribute to a project if they don't see you working on it too.
>>
>>98027613
Try the worldbuilding general.
>>
>>98027613
go to the worldbuilding general, open the worldbuilding for newbies link, check out the resources.

Everything you want already exists, you are just too lazy to find it. stop posting this stupid thread
>>
>>98027861
>>98027613
Oops, I meant to add a few links to get it started, mainly some random generators, not sure why they weren't in the OP, sorry.

Do you actually want resources, or do you just want a pet thread that you can mindlessly spam with bumps for the next two months? Because if it's the former then you should've gone to /wbg/.
>>
Saw a youtube vid about some new not etaking app for worldbuilding, called chronicler, but I don't know how useful that actually is, I use obsidian and will continue to do but perhaps it's interesting for someone else
>>
>>98027613
Does anyone have anything specifically for designing races please? I haven’t been able to really find anything that looks like it’s worth checking out.
>>
>>98027613
Doing that. It'll be a wiki. 392 links to go, plus a lot of the old list.
>>
>>98027613
I'm not sure where even to begin

I dont want to read 300 pages of some guy talking about how to worldbuild or 40 pages of some guy talking about population numbers of medieval towns. I dont want shit to be encyclopedic, I want quick actionable resources which actually let me get shit done. Every single thing I spend time on should result in my world being closer to be ready to use.

What are some good resources specifically for designing the races for your worlds? A friend turned me onto Wakfu and it inspired me to try and make more original races, or at least take existing race concepts and make them more “me”. I’ve found a couple random generators of course, but I’m not really planning to use them unless I have to, I want my races to be designed by me, not a roll of the metaphorical dice, and I want to avoid just copy-pasting stuff from D&D books if I can help it. Any help would be greatly appreciated please!

I've been running a long-running sci-fi campaign, and the next arc is set on a planet that once had a kaiju infestation and has since been reclaimed by wilderness, with giant monsters roaming everywhere.
I came up with the idea a while ago and dropped a bunch of hints that this was what was coming next, but now, for the life of me, I can't remember what I actually wanted to do with the premise.
Any ideas for cool stuff I could do with this? The kaiju won, the world already ended, and the planet has been taken over by their ecosystem.
>>
>>98103510
crap, wrong thread.
Disregard this post, I suck dicks
>>
>>98027613
I know that >>98103510 posted in the wrong thread by accident, but it got me thinking, what are some useful resources for creating Kaiju, other megafauna, and monsters/creatures in general? Or at least non-DnD compendiums of said monsters.

>>98104705 you got me down memory lane: over a decade ago, I made a kaiju generator IN COPPERPLATE ENGRAVING. I was a fine art student back then, so I had access to everything.
The whole project got sidelined, so the only thing I can send you right now is this picture I took of the WIP.
Curse me for not scanning the full thing back then.

alright, it's not uploading for some reasons. That will have to stay a mystery for now, I guess.

So here's everything I have on my computer that's both kaiju and /tg/ related https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1E-nC1HUs8zlxRb-XrMz_8wELago5rEal?usp=drive_link
Both Horizon War and Ragnarok are wargames by Precinct Omega, in 6mm or so, where you can deploy kaiju units.
Mecha and Monsters is a mini ttrpg for playing either kaiju or mecha. Most of the book is taken by ideas of settings.

What resources would be good for learning how a fantasy world might handle mining? Wikipedia is a start, but when magic gets involved…

This is the specific stuff I'll add to the worldbuilding link list. Not sure it helps, because it will depend on you working out which sort of magic/beliefs/deities your world has and how they might affect mining or not. Would wild/High elf knowledge of plants allow them to create mangrove trees whose roots would leech gold from alluvial deposits, turn their leaves golden, and their bark as valuable as nuggets?
