>>98055681>what would you base it on?The UED's invasion. I'm sure this will be something they actually do in the future, but a campaign supplement about their incursion into the sector would be kino, maybe with an army list that lets you bring Zerg and Terrans and linked missions representing their attacks on Dominion worlds.

>>98055681We know they're doing a narrative campaign expansion for the game eventually so I'm curious what it'll be about and what it'll add to the game.
>>98057814>New sector settled by breakaway subfactionsIt wouldn't matter. The whole damn backstory is that Koprulu is populated by breakaway subfactions of humanity, the mutant and freaks Earth was purging, whose ships went off course. Then when Earth shows up on their door they all have roughly identical units and tactics. I mean the whole bit was supposed to be that the genetic "impurities" that got them rounded up on Earth as part of Project Purification then sent into space by Doran Routhe is why they have the psychic potential to create Ghosts.Create yet another breakaway and it'll just be the same shit in a different sector. It's just how Starcraft rolls.

Any tips on using Kerrigan? She's strong but feels a little fragile. Is she just a glass cannon or is there a way she's meant to be played?
>>98073123Worm play... not that way get your head out if the gutterSummon worm, if your opponents move fodder units close, take out zerglings. If they're high value targets send out the crazy bitch and boom that entire area now has to focus on her otherwise that entire zone is now denied.
>>98073123She has a nice threat range and her leap is good for bouncing around terrain. Typical assassin play to flood a zone with multiple threats. Zerg would insanely benefit from an ability like marines barracks

>>98076360Protoss and Zerg may get that in the next wave with siege tanks and immortals for all we knowThere can still be big Zerg models and fit that theme. >>98076360Zerg are getting a big tough unit in the Ravager

>>98077994The Ultras might not have super high HP (if the larger models don't already get a special rule) and might come with tough stockthe Ultras are coming because the Tarrasque were announced and it would be weird not to have UltralisksThe siege tank was never really that tough to begin with if it was taking any amount of damage, you've already misplayed ityou take the siege tank for the gun not the armorthe Immortals gimmick were their shields so I could see them having either really strong shields (higher number than their HP)or an ability to make them better (probably removes surge Armor from enemy attacks)I don't see Archon giving models really high HP as it feels like they want units to kill more than they can tank>I wouldn’t be surprised if the Protoss interceptors weren’t a cheapy salable flyer unit for Protoss IDK I have strong feeling they are going to be like the point defense drones or as a Tactical cardyou would need to swarm them to properly have them function like interceptors possibly giving them a respawn which sounds like something that could deal more volume of shots than anything else the Protoss could have
>>98078746Ravagers are probably going to be just roach stats with a long range gun

>>98055681>If you can write a narrative campaign based on a mission from the games or on a canon event for a supplement for this game, what would you base it on?None. I would try and do a "Resident Evil but in Starcraft" campaign. The players are leading a squad-sized Terran or Protoss team to investigate recent Zerg infections on a planet specifically made for that campaign. As the campaign goes on the roster of the squad shifts and changes depending on what happens in previous missions while the units within the squad "level up" with unit and tasks/objective achieving upgrades specific upgrades.>>98055700I'm honestly waiting on the generic ghosts and banshees to come out before getting into this game. And if I like it I would probably do a second army with Protoss. Do we know when Alarak is supposed to come out? Next year?
>>98119640I would kill for an "Oops all infested" army list
>>98117547Similar, but the most complexity frontloaded onto you are the cards you buy with a secondary set of points during list building, represented by Vespene Gas. They unlock what are basically FOC slots to let you access certain units and also give you expendable rules or resources during the game. The sort of thing that clicks better after a few games.Otherwise the turn structure is alternating activations by phase, you only need to remember three armies, and you move squads by moving just one model and everyone else groups around them. The big boxes make 1000pt armies by themselves, but the model range is very basic for everyone at the moment.

>>98153133You can get a full 2000 point army for under 300 dollars with the starter sets.
>>981531332000 or so points for roughly a few hundred. Not bad for a licensed game desu
>>98153133I would consider it higher because you have limited unit selection in first and second wave, and this concept of 'living rules' just seems like a gimmick to sell more models analogue with the balance spin cycle omnipresent in vidya, especially Blizzardo vidya. It would be supremely wise to avoid putting together a 2k army until more waves of units come out to avoid planned obsolescense dicking you over. If you want all the models anyway though it doesn't matter. I'll be waiting to see what the air units are like myself.
I want Ghosts. Until Ghosts release me know buy.
Will the Thor get a model? Sexy af unit! I feel like the Thor, Colossus and Ultralisk would be obvious choices to make into units if Archon want this game to have Imperial Knight equivalents.
>>98165011Ultralisks are already confirmed, they said they are thinking about Colossus so Thor is pretty much given somewhere down the line
>>98165011Hybrid seem like they'll play as the game's "Knight Faction" so each faction will need a Knight-equivalent to deal with them. Ergo, the Thor is an obvious unit to give the Terrans.
>>98165575>Hybrid seem like they'll play as the game's "Knight Faction"This confirmed?
>>98169757Not at all. Anon is just wishful.
Rules look genuinely really good, but I hate this Warmachine like focus on hero models you build the armies around and don't really want to get into it if its going to be that.
>>98170972It’s seems less to me that the army is built around the heroes and more like the heroes augment the army desu. Like Kerrigan for example does not demand that you take a specific troop combination to support her. They’re no doubt strong, but not so strong that you would be stupid not to take them desu. It’s pretty well designed to me that it seems like all units are strong enough be effective. Like the opportunity cost of say picking another squad of hydralisks over Kerrigan isn’t that bad.
>>98171059I don't know, the way subfactions are literally named after their hero unit and a big portion of the preview for new releases is just listing heroes that are coming later makes me feel the whole game is going to revolve around them and you'd be retarded not to take one even if you can technically play without them, which would kill all of my hype. We'll see how it plays out, since I'm going to wait for the Brood War release anyway before I decide whether to buy in.
>>98169757No, but it makes sense given what they are/how strong each is in game. Them not being a Knight-equivalent force would be dumb.

I watched a youtube video about this game. It looked like it's just copying a bunch of things from Star Wars Legion. I have mixed feelings about that. Also, how am I supposed to get someone to play this with me instead of playing, well, Starcraft?
>>98184721Well, starcraft is about as enjoyable to play as a hybrid cerebral palsy and loading bar simulator. Its about twenty years behind much better rts games, even the sequel. NuBlizzard is not known for their generosity, good will, competence, charisma, integrity, expertise, literary talent, aesthetic sense, experience or game design. It would be an absolute miracle if some toilet scrubbers like Archon can afford the probably exorbitantly expensive license long enough to fulfill phase 2 let alone 3. I guess you just have to like the models and want to paint them, your ambitions of actually playing it will be limited to tabletop sim as approximately zero(0) people who weren't paid to play it are posting battle reports.

Hundreds of years later, by using the computers in the ships to help with science and tech development, the descendents of the survivors all meet up, some form a government called the Confederacy, other their own smaller factions, and colonize more worlds and get into political unease as befits humanity. Civil wars, starships, big tanks, space marines, yes really, space jets, psychic snipers that call nukes down. And all with the flavor of American Redneck Space Truckers. All this lore comes from a booklet that was included in the big box set of starcraft 1 + expansion. Eventually, they run into 2 alien races. The Protoss - A race with strong psychic powers and very advanced tech. They have no mouths, communicate telepathically and basically warp around and glass planets with lazers and photon cannons if they are infested with...The Zerg - a swarm race thats basically a tyranid ripoff, with a more buggy look, and led by a literal giant brain and they want to eat everything, duh. War ensues between the 3 races. Main characters of each race (human main characters are not Confederates but a rebel group) run into each other, some are friends, some are foes, some switch sides etc etc, shit gets blown up. In the expansion Earth forces arrived at some point, do shady shit, then gets fucked on and leave, a zergified human replaced the giant brain as leader, and theres some uneasy truce between Humans and the Protoss, but everyone still fights eachother because fuck it.StarCraft 2 does the stupid thing of introducing a prophecy and a dark god and another dimension so I basically disregard a lot of that part. Hell, they even have Ghost units despite psionic abilities were supposedly cultivated in the people sent from Earth, as Earth itself was busy purging its mutations instead of encouraging them.Checking the Starcraft wiki, Metzer says that after Doran lost the colony ships he was disgraced and died in obscurity, that's how little he matters to the story. One of the two "unique" things you are pedestalizing as mandatory for "the Protoss" is engaged with by the plot almost exclusively as a source of problems, frequently due to its puritanism over the other.
>>98212786But the Khala didn't actually go anywhere, they just used the xel'naga keystone mcguffin to suck out Amon from affected protoss on Aiur, then cut their nerve cords to stop him from being able to come back in and re-possess them. Destroying a few khaydarin crystals in the missions prior isn't going to affect it, it just fucks with their power grid so that the possessed golden armada can't instantly teleport back in to rape artanis' ass.New protoss could just as easily reconnect to the khala since they'll have their nerve cords. Hell, newborn nerazim protoss could do it, but they ritualistically sever their nerve cords because of muh culture, muh individuality.

>>98285592All of the minis are really impressive, the zergs being the highlight. They are also a brick after assembly, made to be moved around the table with no fear.
>>98285592She is completed, my favorite so far.
>>98286179>>98286245Very nice! The queen is a sexy model, is the "hair" fragile? I'm worried those dreadlock things will snap if you even touch 'em.
Built my marines, got these, roaches and adepts at a convention and already built the roaches. I really like the kits real easy to follow instructions and put together.
>>98288766Visor on the middle guy throwing the grenade is upside down.
>>98289109Fixed it.Thanks for noticing
>Still recieved literally no info about my Protoss boxI'm legitimately getting anxious
>>98288766>>98286245>>98286179>>98279561These look pretty good, much better than Mantic quality, which is what I expected lol
>>98289693I like what I see, and it just makes me seethe all the harder about how much SC2 fucked up the lore. I will stay mad till the end of my days about Heart of the Swarm retconning the zerg to introduce the primal zerg.
>>98292902>stay mad till the end of my days about Heart of the Swarm retconning the zerg to introduce the primal zerg.Primal Zerg are the coolest thing in Starcraft.
Update on orders> We understand that the initial fulfilment process is taking longer than originally anticipated. This first wave was designed to be a major launch, and its scale made logistics more complex than expected. However, future waves should be easier for us to estimate, manufacture, and fulfil more efficiently.>We already have our next releases planned, and the full reveal of the next wave is coming soon. For now, we continue to closely monitor Wave 1 pre-orders to ensure that they are dispatched as quickly as possible.
>>98069625I kind of hope we get Queen of Ghost Kerrigan from HoTS too
>>98292902>>98292970I don't hate the Primal Zerg as a concept, but I miss the hard worm origin. Would've been nice to explore that concept more, kind of like how they ended up splitting up the Protoss.
>>98292902>>98294542Niadra, you retarded bitches. You are on the order of relentlessly complaining that the UED just showed up with no relation to previous statements about the situation on Earth. There is not actually a retcon, because the lore "contradicted" is ambiguously-distant but VERY ancient origins with the CORE function behind the interest being the taking of traits from other species. What does sticking to that even change? Pull your head out of the 1996 manual for five fucking seconds and think through what the Zerg do that's related to what the Primal Zerg do and the impacts of that on the ancestral parasitic worm state.
>>98294691Calm yourself nigger, I'm saying the opposite of your strawman. What I wanted to see, on top of everything else, is something like a world that focused on the worms and explored their freaky alternative forms. Think Cerebrates & the Overmind, they're just two forms we know they can take when organized. But we don't know how they would operate when left to themselves. Also consider that this does not invalidate nor would it be invalidated by the primals. Zerg flavors right now come in vanilla, primal, and infested terran. Protoss have vanilla, DT, taldarim, and purifier. What's the harm in exploring a 4th zerg branch looking further into their weird 80s scifi-horror and hivemind aspects? God forbid we explore how weird hyper-intelligent, hyper-evolving aliens may have something like cultural or philosophical differences between groups across star systems in a war setting.
>>98294850That would be a pretty cool idea, not gonna lie.
>>98294691Youre one dumb nigger that just consooms rancid slop and cant stomach when people point out its disjointed garbage. Rope a dope yourself.
>>98295853A tonal mismatch is not a retcon. Filling in with something other than the bluntest possible extrapolation is not a contradiction.
>>98293930Translation from toilet cleaner;>The license was very expensive
>>98293975Zerg Hair Kerrigan seems like a given tbhon. Hopefully she can be brought in both Terran and Zerg armies.
>>98281625>>98286179Thanks Anon for beta testing.I was holding off buying until I got a first hand review of the models. Making sure they're aren't pure Chinesium.Time to dive in.And by that I mean wait 10,000 years for the pre-orders to end.
