Can clerics heal adhd, depression and other mental health problems caused by chemical imbalances in the brain as effectively as real world modern pharmacology?
>>98103979Yes
Check the rulebook, nogames.
>>98103979hopefully a virtuous man of god will find you one day and plant his mace in your skull to save us from your nonsense
>>98103979Depends if you and your DM decide they can in your imaginary game of make believe.
>>98103979Real world pharmacology is generally not very successful at healing these so yes, I imagine clerics probably can.
>>98103979There's nothing to heal. Adhd is not a disease.
>>98103979can only heal things a body would heal eventually on its own.
>>98103979Sounds like "remove curse" to me, Anointer of Champions.
>>98104047Rude
>>98103979>healEverything you listed is something that modern pharmacology "treats", rather than "cures". And I'd take the position that clerics wouldn't be able to heal such things because letting them do so would open a really fucking messy can of worms. I don't want Foucalt's Madness and Civilization to be required reading for tabletop.
>>98105251Well, so is dying, but Resurrection exists.
>>98103979Depends. Some of the gods might take issue with you trying to cure schizophrenia, but others would gladly help you cure someone's PTSD or head trauma
>>98103979Serious answer: Those can be persistent problems, either persistent chemical imbalances or persistent patterns of thought like personality disorders. They aren't wounds, but more like deformities. So it would require greater healing skill to get rid of them permanently. Even more serious answer: If your goal is to stimulate conversation on this board, you can disguise this inane question better. At least make an interesting anecdote (true or false) about a time it came up in your campaign. It's easy to do. This lazy and stark question tells me you just want to aggravate. Please touch grass.
>>98103979Yes, which is why troons don't exist in settings with divine magic
>>98111251Work on your bait bro 2016 was a decade ago
In Pathfinder’s Shackled Seas APAn NPac that had been tortured and had her rogue and all her limbs cut off needed 1 cast of Restoration per served limb and rogue and two for her mind.
>>98105121But completely deserved.
I think it depends on the illness. I don't think it's a good thing to have though because it introduces a lot of odd questions on what precisely is a mental illness and could lead to some table arguments on whether or not a cleric can alter a person's personality since this is quite a potent power to give the players
>>98111487>2016 was a decade agoYou didn't have to say that
>>98103979Bestow/Remove curse exist anon
>>98111487Found the thread troon, guess the bait still lures
>>98103979You can’t heal what isn’t real. Go back to taking your prescription drugs that don’t work. I imagine they do as much as imaginary healing in a ttrpg.
>>98103979mental issues would typically manifest as Ability Drain to a mental ability score (wis/int/cha) and so can be cured by a level 7 Cleric. So yes, but good luck finding one outside of a large city, not to mention paying him to cast it would probably run you about 400gp which for the average person is technically feasible but nonetheless quite the investment
>>98103979>yukee pukee threadSage and move on.
>>98105406>Some of the gods might take issue with you trying to cure schizophreniaIIRC mental illness is now in Lamashtu's portfolio, and you seriously don't want to attract Lamashtu's undue attention.

>>98104653F(ifth)PBP
>>98103979No, unless it's cause by a physical brain injury, that is more of a thing for settings with psychics to solve
>>98103979>Can clerics heal adhd, depression and other mental health problems caused by chemical imbalances in the brain as effectively as real world modern pharmacology? No.Most healing spells restore HP, a combination of physical damage and stamina.Certain spells restore life, such as Revivify, but are expensive and usually require powerful casters.Heal, is the first spell that can do more interesting things. However, lots of retards misunderstand that the spell is using game terms in reference to effects such as blindness, deafness, and diseases as caused by spells or monster effects, and cannot heal wounds or physical deformities which make a character blind or deaf nor can it remove certain things referred to as "diseases" in the real world.Greater Restoration can remove very specific game effects such as reducing the exhaustion level, ending charm or petrification, a curse, a reduction to an ability score, or an effect reducing HP.The various things you have referenced have no game rules and thus are excluded from consideration when it comes to how the various healing spells function in game. Even if we were to somehow have game rules for these conditons, none of them would fall under any of the various spells. ADHD is a developmental "issue" during gestation and is thus a natural effect. No spell can "fix" it beyond the most powerful ones such as Wish and Miracle. Depression is a condition stemming from many factors, some of which can be treated with pharmacology and many others cannot. However, none of these fall under any of the effects of various spells, unless those factors contribute to Depression. A curse that makes you depressed can be fixed but substandard living conditions and poor diet cannot be. You will still be depressed but not magically so.Most mental health issues cannot be fixed or cured with spells since many are natural byproducts of gestational development such as schizophrenia, autism, bipolar disorder, BPD, and many others.
>>98118259So what you're saying is we need to turn to arcane magic, or potentially non-cleric divine magic - spells that change physiology like . . . I don't know actually what their names are. Polymorph, maybe? Change someone into a salmon and it's a whole new brain.
