A lot of things but I will start with some marines mounting juggernaut, besides the hero one i mean, and Butchers.
>>
>What do you think your faction is missing right now?

Orks need a medium duty tank, preferably with a lot of the same weapon options on the battlewagon because the OG ork heavy weapons have been neglected for so long in favor of bespokeslop it's genuinely sad.

GSC could use some additional basic units, like a "jump" troop, a truly heavy infantry, and a proper heavy vehicle.

I honestly don't think Tyranids are missing anything. I guess for nostalgia bait I'd like to see a separate OOE sculpt that is a design throwback to the 3e beetlefex it originated as.

Ad Mech need a Gobblapalooza style unit of techpriests that are all bringing their personal science projects to field test. They also need more servitor units, like a close combat servitor unit.

Had a day off today, so I painted a small fella. I went experimental with it, no shades, no metallics, no fancy highlighting, just about 5 different random paints, a couple hours and a brush trying to see whatever happens. I quite like how he turned out.

Do you guys think he has enough "Big Guy" energy to jump in the collage? He's definitely a small model, so it could fit in an ironic "Guy Ritchie Nickname" sort of way.

Shit I've managed to glean from the stream so far:
Maximum unit coherency is 9".
You only have to toe on for hidden to work, even if you're a model like Ghaz.
You don't gain CP if your army isn't battle ready.
Movement must be measured in straight line increments much like Kill Team.
You're not allowed to speak, you need to have proxies/commentators for that.
Terrain pieces have a movement allowance to account for how often players move them around during a game.

nu dg were made before the HH split. and im gonna be honest deathshrouds should be removed, they either make normal terminators useless or vice versa. They also do not look 1-1 with their 30k counterpart, you can barely take liberties with butchers.

Votann:
Ruleswise they need to change Hostile Acquisition to +1 to BS/WS so it can be used against cover.

Modelwise, we need a walker, a grimnyr on bike, and a real land train.

Sisters:
Ruleswise need a more open melee detachment.
Modelwise need more varied Palatine/Dogmata models, more generic characters instead of Epic Heroes, and a squad of Celestians armed with combi-weapons.

On the topic of Red Butchers, what do we think of the Terminator Detachment WE's getting in 11th? I mostly ask because I have 10 Chaos Terminators laying around and I could build them for either World Eaters or Iron Warriors, but I already have 10 converted Cataphractii Terminators for IW to go with Kravek Morne.
>>
>>98104134
I actually do not hate them, but i dont think they are suited to represent the design of Admech skitarii.
And obviously, the miniatures can never cover every possibility, they should be somewhat generic, so people can come up with their own ideas more easily. (Cadians for example, as the generic guard option, with Krieg the less generic one).
The Da Vinci guys could represent forces from a far off, and esotheric forgeworld, while the 30k stuff should represent mars.
>>
>>98104142
Yea my thoughts on the troops I think they could add would both be 1st-2nd gens - grapple gun sapper teams for the "jump" troop, and acolytes driving scaled down exo loader suits and using their extra arm(s) to handle a firearm.
>>
>>98104134

I do not get why they went with the Da Vinci shit.
On one release they have the gimp pilots for the striders, body horror with stuff like the Sicarian Ruststalkers and clear focus into walkers.
Then proceed to release a boat and Da Vinci stuff. My only explanation is at some point a directive from corpo was to remove the gimp and body horror aspects or at least one them down. While also making it clear to the public that admech do not know shit. So they stuck with this dumb cloth and sticks wings.

I personally hate the new painboy, think it's a criminally bland remake of a really cool model, and genuinely don't understand why people were praising it. A unit that can take a punch, that isn't the Talos or the Ravager, and more flesh-monsters. If they are trying to make the 3 sub-factions of the Drukhari into a detachment each, then Covens need more datasheets to be like the other two at least.

I wouldn't say I *like* the new Painboy but I think it's an improvement. I really, really did not like the 6th edition Painboy. I think it's a clumsy sculpt coming from the era where nobody in the GW sculpting team besides Brian Nelson had a handle on Orcs, and he was busy getting the Ironjaw range ready for AoS's debut. The one good thing I can say about it is I do like the fun, characterful face.

My preference is the previous painboy sculpt, which had a similarly oversized surgical limb but it was in a reasonable range while still being funny instead of being so unconscionably large you couldn't imagine the character moving around with it. I'll also include the Painboss in here as a sculpt I prefer to the 6e one.

I do think the 11e one overcorrects on the surgical arm, and I'm not huge on the pose. If the idea was to make the focus more on the 'Urty Syringe this time, they could have pushed the design a bit more to bring out the derangement factor that's consistent across all of them more.
>>
>>98104148
I think it is fine.

World Eaters shouldn't have red butchers.
WE are mentally retarded to the point where they can't even take care of their own equipment. All of it falls to disrepair and breaks eventually.
So WE having only generic chaos terminators makes sense, it represents marines who recently became corrupted by Khorne, so their armor is still in somewhat working order.
>>
>>98103486
I don't mind the story being static in codexes but when you're selling novels and narrative campaigns focusing on specific characters in the setting I'd at least expect some kind of character growth. There are like five Ahriman novels and from what I've read they end with him using time travel to reset things back how they started.

Setting progression isn't cancer, it's something that can be done well if handled properly. Lots of RPGs have had metaplots and modules that led into each other.

Nobody wants to five books where nothing fucking happens. And it's not like these characters are getting into interesting scenarios, it's always "oh then I had to fight some dark eldar" or "oh I fought a chaos guy and I was stronger so I won"! Stop bootlicking GW and coming up with pretentious excuses to defend their trash.

just because the setting doesn't move it doesn't mean nothing happens, there can be stories that don't change the status quo, those aren't suddenly disqualified from being interesting stories just because they don't tickle the tumor in your ass that demands power scaling shit.

But that's the base of FAN art: when the fan injects their own sensibilities and passion; fanart is not just 3rd party art, it's from a FAN. And fans are not drones.

But if you want some clues:

2) either fits the setting and expands on it, or is super far but for a good reason

There is a soul to handcrafted terrain in a way that 3D print or plastic kits cannot ever achieve. When you look at a plastic or printed terrain piece, even if it's well painted and thematic, there is still this semblance of it being fake. It's too clean, too smooth, too artificial. Handcrafted terrain always looks like someone physically made it by hand: it has texture, flock, actual wood and foam, and a personality to it that mass produced terrain could never dream to achieve. It is like viewing a diorama at a museum vs looking at toys on a shelf. The second might be cool and convenient but the first has this awe and comforting aura around it, and you can envision the craftsman putting it together.
Handsculpted vs digital sculpted miniatures have a similar situation, and even stop motion vs digital animation in some cases

chaos kniggas, a lore question - could a marine/lord rip the pilot out and mantle the knight with some daemonic assistance treating it as sort of "ascension"? Because the pseudo realism on the falcon expands the setting. It invites you to go deeper with, well, more depth.

The fanart on one hand points at realism with the situation depicted, but not in a "40k realism", instead in a "21st century realism" (replace the eldars with a regular tank and it's pretty fucking normal), but on the other hand is not in a realistic style. It doesn't evoke photography, it's very much stylistic.

The fanart is actually really boring, it has no depth. It looks nice, it's well done. But you're not gonna spend hours on what it offers.

And you can only use 6 in a game. In 9th you have 50+ to use every game. The corporate drones during the Q&A already said you'll only have 6-9 stratagems at 2000 points.
>>
>>98104939
You never played 3rd or 4th and it shows.
In this old edition you had mechanics and rules for making your own shit.
Fucking Genestealer cult for example had a codex and rules in Imperial Guard. On top of whatever random shit you could make using those existing rules and adding shit from nids or make your own models rules.
Hell most of 3rd to 7th is somewhat compatible with each other.

At least with GSC during 9th. I only ever ended using around 9 different stratagems and that was stretching it. Most of the time I end using the same three because the rest where too situational or expensive to use.
I hardly had a reason to use other 9000 of them

How is running Celestine alone vs with a big squad of zephyrim? Anyone broken down the math on the best use of the revive ability with a bodyguard squad vs just the celestine unit?

I kind of like the idea of taking Celestine, taking the 10 squad of zeph, and then during deployment choosing whether it's better to have 2 deep striking squads or one big one. It gives you choice/flexibility.

I don't actually have very many games of 10th, just several, so I'm still not sure on the benefit of the deep striking squads to contest objectives in this edition. Back in the day when I did play a lot, which was 4th/5th editions, this was a premier strategy and the jump infantry would do this every game and decided a large portion of my matches. I kind of like how "objective control" works now vs back in the day it was either held or contested and anything putting a toe on the objective "contested" it, which was kind of gamey. I much prefer the newer system of actually doing math to determine who holds it, and some units (like battleline) actually have OC 2 to represent the sturdy units holding ground. It's just one of the things I do like about the new editions from an old player.

Anyway, "I've been watching some battle reports on youttube to learn and get other people's experience, and the vast majority of the time, Celestine and Zephyim just eat shit and die in this edition, so I'm worried since it's such a cool model and I loved painting it and would love to use it. Her and the Zeph superior with the banner are some of my favorite models in the whole game.

I redid my whole army and have like 3k points of the new plastic sisters and I'm really happy learning the new edition. I do find it funny that there's a new edition so soon coincidentally, but that just means everyone will be learning a bit with me so I'm not as far behind.

Celestine is used as a backline mission piece. She's relatively tanky and you can't ignore her.

Celestine+zephs is ass, it's a 300+ pt unit that doesn't kill anything important.
She needs to give zephs something like Vahl does to her unit for the combo to be worth it.

It's fine. This is early 11th. GW knows we are in a weak spot right now. When the codex comes out in early fall, we will get a full rework and probably a new unit or two. Obviously they wouldn't leave the game in a state where space marines have more movement tricks than Eldar.

Brother I'm the one providing receipts while you're posting rules with plain english that don't disallow what we're talking about. Imagine for a second that the top image in your original post *wasn't* arranged in an 'M' shape, what would that look like, hmm? Would it possibly be a straight line that maximized the distance between the two furthest apart models in the unit? That's a conga line.

Now, what actually stopped players from frequently doing it was the wound allocation rules. But you haven't mentioned those, at all, because you never fucking played 4th. You just want to grog signal for some reason instead of actually discuss what the problem of the system was.

That's not congalining, though. That was a specific case done to counter a specific tactic. You wouldn't do this during normal play because it would render the unit useless for a few turns if it broke coherency by some models dying as 4th had certain ways of making the shooting player choose casualties, like torrent weapons or receving as many wounds as the unit has models.
>>

The kind of weather burgers get isn't something the UK is used to (Yet). British houses were built to keep heat. It's only relatively recently that the 'Once in a decade summer' has become the every summer (no awards for why that is). Moreover, the kind of houses we've build everywhere are incredibly difficult to retrofit with sophisticated or efficient AC units. Nearly 40% of the entire housing stocks was built before WWII ended. Given how NIMBY the entire country is, there won't be anywhere near enough new homes. We are doomed to have electric-guzzling mobile AC units in every room.

Sure, I addressed that wound allocation is what made conga lining a dangerous maneuver in 4th, but it still existed, and after the former was changed to no longer punish conga lining it persisted well through several editions prior to 8th when the fake grog claimed it was popularized. The entire point was calling him out for making empty nostalgia signals by posting rules that had problems demanding additional rules to solve them, defeating the attempt to claim those specific coherency rules were more straightforward than what we are getting.

do ork kits with a nob come with 10 boys+nob or 9 boys+nob?

>>
>>98106025
The old box was ten boys and a nob. Who knows with the new one. Snagga boyz have tiny nobs because you have to turn one of the boys into a nob so I just run two nobs in a 20 man and say the one with the boss pole is the real one.

It does look significantly better than 10th. A very low bar, for sure, but it is better. It only needs more varied terrain. The Codex Cityfight board is perhaps one of the best looking urban boards ever and it's mostly because every building looks different. The only issue the 11th edition basic board has is that eveey building is made with the exact same walls.
>>
>>98106035
It'll 100% be 11 boyz and a nob. Among the models they gave out at Adepticon there's at least one boyz body that isn't in any of the starter set previews meaning the extra sprue with the weapon options also has the extra boy.
>>
>>98106035
what about the easy build one that was in the combat patrol for a while?

>>
>>98106061
The nob in those is the same size as the boys and can build a regular boy. I'd just use the ETB ones to bulk out the 10 man squads from the starter so you have 20 man squads with proper nobs.
>>
>>98106047
>It does look significantly better than 10th. A very low bar, for sure, but it is better. It only needs more varied terrain.
The issue is that people are expecting those really plain and boring tournament boards to suddenly become good looking, when all that's going to happen in reality is those same drab terrain pieces will still remain. They can just be used as the new objectives rather than the disks.

Sure, but my point is that using terrain as objectives instantly looks better than having abstracted gigantic discs covering half the board. Objectives being terrain also makes the game look better from the outside because untis are naturally occupying terrain pieces instead of bunching up on a circle next to the terrain. So it's a massive improvement overall.

The bubble chukka is so annoying because it was cool when it was first introduced in Epic. It put a forcefield around enemies so they got hit by their own weapons. Now its just the "lolsorandom" weapon profile.

Would rather it have its middle weapon profile and made all weapons shot by the target Hazardous for the next turn, but then GW would insist on raising the price $5 to add a plastic bubble marker to the box.

The frustrating thing about X-wing is that the game's basic rules structure is great, they just completely fucked up building on it.

All 2nd edition needed was an increase in points from 100 to 250 so there was a little bit more of a lever to pull for balancing, and instead they did the stupid points+wargear points thing.

That's a pretty easy one.
The Orks would rather fight a stronger enemy than a weaker one.
>since from the orks' perspective, working with humies means fewer enemies to fight.
Enemies can endear themselves to the Orks - whether willingly or not - to the point where the Orks would rather keep them around to grow stronger than beat them outright.

>>
>>98106716
Ork magic is mostly a meme.
It's not like their trukks move because there's a piece of paper under the hood with the words "vroom vroom" on it.
There is an engine, made by a mekboy, that actually works just like an internal combustion engine should. It's also incredibly shoddily made and should rattle itself into piece in a matter of minutes of running, but here's where the Ork belief magic kicks in. As long as the Orks believe it should hold together and not rattle itself to bits, it will. Mostly. There is always a chance the Orks will not believe hard enough. Like when it gets hit by a rocket.
>>
>>98106716
if enough orkz believe in it it will become true kinda like socialism working
>>
>>98106716
It's real enough to hold things together that should fall apart. It's not going to completely work miracles, and it's not going to contribute to tech advances, as most orks aren't imaginative enough for that sort of thing.
>>
>>98106670
>bad loot
>orks
what?
also votann have plenty good melee, and although their short stature makes it so they can’t pick up and use armor or weapons all willy nilly, they can still be retrofitted for orks, and more importantly they come with numerous electronic parts which a competent mekboy can make into a bunch of things like tinboyz, force fields, tellyportas, ect. they definitely don’t deserve to go into the same category as tyranids and daemons who don’t drop any gubbinz whatsoever.
>>

They don't care. They're fighting the enemy first and these new guys joined the brawl. Orks mistreat their own and do pranks putting explosive whoopie cushions under each other's seats all the time so accidentally hitting an ally or the wrong enemy's normal for them.

The big question is how they met on the same battlefield rather than the 3rd faction deliberately staying away so they don't get caught in Ork crossfire, and so they can do missions that work better while Orks are distracted.

The other thing is that the US is much more prone to earthquakes than Europe, and making brick buildings earthquake-proof is insanely expensive.

>>

money doesn’t stop you from being a piggy. there are “poorfags” who blew as much money as you did on MTO stuff, and you’re both equal when it comes to eating up slop like a good piggy.
>>
>>98107122
Yeah, that chalkiness is exactly what happens when painting white straight over a dark colour. Lighter colours like white and yellow do best when layered over a mid tone, ie. grey for white or red/orange for yellow, and ofc that mid tone also still shows in the recesses for shading. Perhaps look up a tutorial on how to paint sisters' hair for a more specific guide on what to do?

grey then corax white to highlight

Why even live bros... Orks ofc if you aren't nonchalant and can be cringe
>>
>>98107145
Rules change, aesthetics don't. Unless you have a broad preference for range/melee or horde/elite, it comes down to the army whose models and theme you like the most because everything else will likely be different by next codex.

Except for imperial agents they're shit don't pick them.

Jeez, imagine the Knights you coulda got for 7 hundo

Sanguinius was the straightest primarch and I'm tired of pretending otherwise

What do you want to do? A bunch of elite units? A swarm of little dudes? A squad of tanks? Wow cool robots? What kind of army aesthetic do you want?

>>98107054
>get started
God damn nigga you mean get done? That's over 80 regular infantry. I doubt there's a list you couldn't field with only vostroyans. I only ordered a platoon and a squad and that's already enough for an armor heavy list.

All armies are if you're new and still learning
Just paint whoever you like the most. The rules change from year to year and your army list will change with it, so it's better to have one faction you just love to pieces rather than who's strong or has the best rules right now.
The game itself is a shitfest balanced around mathhammer tourneyfags where you can just lose by bringing the wrong list. The best way to enjoy the game is to paint for quality and watch the normies gawk as you slap down the sexiest models they've ever seen.

I don't know about that, but I remember the bit where some top word bearers were lamenting about how their primarch was efette, emotional and soft. He hardened up later on, but early HH lorgar had a reputation as a weakling.

Hey
You know that permanent ban you got?
That's the site mods. You know jannies don't ban directly, right? Go look at the application dialogue that's at the top of the page if you don't believe me.
The moderation believes you should not be able to post here, and so do the users.
So will you accept your ban, or keep breaking the rules and evading?
>>

Who insulted you this time? We were just having a tongue in cheek discussion about the homosexuality of each primarch and you jumped in all aggressive and ruined the fun

Out of the original Loyalist Legions to see someone painted, what is by and large the rarest?
I would assume it's a tie between:

>Iron Hands

Speaking of painted Loyalist Legions, name what legion makes you either based or a fag for your Space Marines.

I still wished we had confirmation Yarrick died, Angron was invading some planet, only for an Ork WAAAGH to appear with Ghazghkull jumping his ass. Why didn't we get this? Isn't Angron and Ghazghkull the same size or is Ghazghkull taller than him?
>>
>>98107366
i think this boils down to anecdotal experiences so in my case it's white scars. I think most people try to avoid color schemes that are mostly white since it's harder to make them look good
>>
>>98107370
Are we only counting the main ones? Because I feel like any of the meme successors are a valid contender, like Carcharodons. Don't get me wrong I love the idea of mauri marines, but if you've picked an internet fave chapter like that i feel like you're just a cool dude or an insufferable meme kid, no in between
>>
>>98107380
>It's hard to make white look good
I call completely bullshit. It's yellow that's hard to make look good.

>>
>>98107366
Imperial Fists are relatively popular (Nowhere near as popular as the other Loyalist ones you named of course), and White Scars have their small niche as "Bike Marines". There is zero interesting things you can do with Iron Hands other than "Hey my marines have prosthetics!", and there are three armies that do their shtick better (Deathwatch and Black Templars as black marines, and Iron Warriors as techy marines)
>>
>>98107402
you'll spend hundreds on plastic but won't invest a little in a tool that you can use on every single mini you paint?
>>
>>98107366
I think fists clear the other two easy. White scars have something interesting going on so you see them sometimes individually, usually bike stuff. I've never seen anyone give much of a shit about iron hands, complete fumble of a colour scheme. Competing with Raven guard (who have an excuse, raven+ stealth = black) and BT for the black and white motif. They should've changed their colours a long time ago, might be too late now.

I need a respirator and the fucker is loud as shit.

>>98107405
>There is zero interesting things you can do with Iron Hands other than "Hey my marines have prosthetics!"
This is James' fault 100%. Iron Hands should be some half marine half admech abominations, and still could with a lot of hobby work and spending $$$ but it'd be so much better if GW did that vibe officially

>>98107409
