Goblins:

The problem with describing how a trap works is that the rogues detect and disable traps abilities are completely vague. I can design a trap that is technically impossible to disable because of the location of the mechanisms puts them out of reach of the rogue. I am so glad my group stopped playing D&D a d switched to FFGrpgs

A trap has some output. Even if the operation mechanisms are remote, the release point has to be somewhere. Detecting and disabling a trap can be recognizing a trigger, a disoenser, or a flap. These can be jammed or circumvented, thus disabling the trap.

You think the place is full of dirty puddles but most are actually hibernating slimes and oozes and sludges in carved-out holes, and one slip can mean you are literally waist-deep in trouble.
Probably acts as a dumping ground for some villain's victims or a breeding grounds set up to form a slime army to be trained or magically controlled somehow.

A level 7 wizard can create a magical trap using Arcane Eye as the trigger which is invisable that shoots a scorching ray at the first target to enter into range that is farther than the rogue detect range. The GM has to coddle the players if you follow the rules as written.
