>TQHoly shit this is a new TQ. I didnt know we could do that! Anyways, I uh. Huh. Relligion is kinda my thing but I dont really recall anything that catches my interest in fantasy. uh....man I cant recall a single glup shitto god. Can I settle with malice? What about that one god of apathy?
>TQI wish we would learn more about the gods of nehekhara.
>>98113978That would mean making Egyptians be anything but surface level deep. We cant have that, thousand sons and tomb kings MUST be boring.
>>98113984Genuinely I think the problem lies with you.
>>98114005No the problem lies with British writers.
>TQRanald. Literally never seen ANYTHING done with him or even seen him referenced in-lore, anywhere, ever. WFRP players don't even know him. I don't think he even got a passing handwave reference in the fucking End Times, lmao. Odd considering his story was copied almost 1:1 in the Elder Scrolls (Promethean "thief of the gods" steals an artifact from a god and becomes empowered) with the Grey Fox, and everyone loves that character.
>>98113938>picCathayans desperately need more Thunderbolt Fantasy Qi fuckery and smug Chinese noblemen. They're so fucking boring right now.
>TQProbably centigors need a kit refresh the most,Harpies too
>>98114128Thank you for the bump (I can't believe you do this for free)
>>98113938I don't mind the Cathay artwork, like OP posted, I think the artists did a decent job. I really think the models are a miss. They just look to me like they belong in a different game.
>>98114197More like another company.
>>98114197They're to a decent standard, I just think mixed sexes in the same units are fucking weird and gay. The only reason they kinda get away with it is because Mulan exists.
>>98114197I think the models mostly look great, in what way do they look like they don't belong? They seem pretty par for the Fantasy Historical tone they are going for. Like if the Perry brothers had soul.
>>98113978aren't the nehekharan gods just the same as the empire's but with a different name?
>>98114222>Like if the Perry brothers had soul.Actually made me seethe. (You) granted
do you guys know any cheap third party bases with slots that are actually big enough to fit miniatures instead of splitting apart?
>>98114268Just cut the slots off?
>>98114011It's not a problem with British writers otherwise, Egyptology would never have taken off, and the busiest part of the British Museum wouldn't be the Ancient Egypt section. GW just never had any writers interested in the Bronze Age collapse or Egypt outside of the surface level aesthetic
>>98113978why
>>98113938>What’s your favorite forgotten god/cult in the setting?Solkan and the Gods of Law in general seem like they could do with more development
>>98114268cut the slots off.also, use round bases and round slotter movement trays, that way when ranking your unit, you can turn models in place to adjust them, which lets you build more interesting poses without worrying about them ranking up. also lets you use your army in aos or other fantasy round games, so you can get 2x the games in
>>98114557AoS is a model range, not a game. No one has ever actually played it
>>98114562i've probably played more games of aos in the last 5 years than you've played of fantasy in the last 30
>>98114597Based gloomspiter
>>98114222Are you retarded, troll anon?Tell me this dorf doesn't have soul, you piece of sh..
>>98113938>TQHonestly I'm gonna say Morr.No Morr isn't 'forgotten' I just think it's a cool concept that could be sick if fleshed out more (heh) in Empire armies. But there are so many >>98113978>>98113984relating to this weird exchange, i think the problem is that Chaos, Lady of the Lake, Sigmar, etc take up all the oxygen regarding gods and religions. Fuck even the Dwarf gods and worshippers only have a passing mention beyond Slayers and Grimnir.>>98114067never heard of him.
>>98114597flashbacks to when i played 40k holy fuck i hate moving masses of guys like that without trays. its either tedious, or sloppy. never felt 'good' to me.
>>98114067He's not BATTLE FIGHTY BATTLE GOD and more akin to the Thief guy and he's not got Heal power ups like Shallyaso of course GW authors and WFB players have no interest in him At least WFRP does mention him in things like Deft Steps >>98113984Skeletons can only ever be Evil seems to be the philosophyThe TK lore has never lived up to the promise of its first army book because GW keep making Settra the Impatient the poster boy of the faction rather than say exploring the desert cities or the tragedy of being immortal but not being able to actually enjoy it.
>>98114622I'm sure it has one, but the photo doesn't show his sole
>>98114663
>>98114597>censors his unpainted modelsHow embarrassing.
you niggas ever slightly lose interest in fantasy and then return full swing in a bit? i personally bounce between being hyperfixated on fantasy and 40k.
>>98114711It's obviously his opponent's models anon
>>98114711This picture honestly loses all meaning when we have shit like print beast slaanesh anon posting here among other…less favorable grey tide posters.
>>98114493Because I think tomb kings are neat and there is a lot of lore to explore.Their gods seem to be real to an extent that they granted the living people of nehekhera super powers.
>>98114067Like the other anon said, WFRP had a good chunk on him fairly recently in Deft Steps, Light Fingers. I thought it was pretty cool.
>>98114662>>98114743Okay, okay, but do you know... HANDRICH, god of... THE MIDDLE CLASS?
>>98114718I'd say I do this 8:2 to fantasy vs other genres. Not just warhammer stuff. Gotta mix it up sometimes.
>>98114762They gave him a thing too, though considerably smaller

>>98114762Have you heard about Gundred the god of Texans?
>>98114780Needs a chariot.
>>98114780A lot of Unnatural Fortitude with Full Plate/Heavy Armour, anon.
>>98114791should have gotten Gundred priests in the Border prince list for TOW since that was where he's most prominent
>>98114790same. >teenager in 2000's>40k setting is COOL>play 40k with 4-5 friends >game is mid>1 friend randomly buys Vampire Counts>ok i'll grab some dwarfs b/c Gimli is cool>play first game, 7th ed WHFB>holy shit the game makes more sense and is actually FUN>never played another game of 40k after that
>>98114806Jesus Christ. I always thought they were just big medieval Punisher-esque tough guys, not Ghost Rider and The Judge's bastard child.
>>98114833>>40k setting is COOL>>game is mid40k... 40k never changes
>>98114843It's a priest using one of Gundred's miracles to intimidate people so the point of them just being tough guys isn't inaccurate, Gundrad is just the god of Cattle and sheep rustling
>>98114780Manticores are pretty bad, you aren't allowed to take Unnatural Fortitude on anything that has heavy or full plate armour, lmao15dogs is risky business, bringing dogres in units larger than 1 shartak is also risky business, Tzeentch and Nurgle are opposed gods, they don't like each other and neither do their followers.Other than that, it's a list. Remove UF from everything and it's playable.
>>98114780Great list let's see the models
>>98114982Here is my collection. It’s a little more than what’s in the list.Thank you to the anon who pointed out the unnatural fortitude/armor mismatch!
>>98115035oh shit it's Tamurkhan. aka 'the end times we deserved' lol.
>>98115048>why didn't you save me, anon?
>>98115048the suggested end times plotline for the throne of chaos series was terrible too.the problem is that these authors think about endings as if they were novel narratives instead of culminations of already existing plot hooks and characterisations because they are hacks who can't be arsed to do their fucking job and collect all the open threads and weave them into a cohesive and satisfying knot.
>>98115070What was the suggested plotline for the throne of chaos series? I never read the tammy book.
>>98115070i actually agree, i don't really want any end times. but i do think that it would have been cooler to have 4 chaos lord incursions from each of the big gods rather than the ET we got.
>>98114718i lost interest in 2005 and just returned this year and bought 2 armies cold cash on the spot 2k pts each. >>98114711no i censored my opponents, because he posts his stuff on socials and i dont want to open him up to 4chan autist harassment.the gobbos are mine, i dont mind posting them here because i dont post my minis on social media sites
>>98115077It was in some interview with Rick Priestley I think, basically he began working on 4 books for forge world that would each focus on a big wave of models for one chaos god and by the end of the books the world would have been advanced to a new status quo that was way more grim, with a new (more or less secretly chaos) emperor at the head of a darker empire, and stuff like nurgle making the river reik as clean as the ganges.Midway into writing the first book GW shot it down, so the thamurkhan book we actually got ended up with little to nothing of the original plotline, it was just reusing the miniatures that were being made for that. And then GW did the end times anyway.
>>98114654it actually becomes part of the strategy. a 40 man unit of grots turns into a tentacled octopus of dudes who can branch out and grab multiple objectives or tie up multiple enemy units at once, although in that particular game i didnt get to because my opponent boxed me in pretty early on, he had a lot of deepstrike i think
>>98115070>instead of culminations of already existing plot hooks and characterisationsare you retarded? That is exactly what the End Times were though I guess you could be forgiving for not reading it. All the plot-lines culminate with the obvious eventualities aka the undead out of selfish ambition end up resurrecting Nagash who controls all of them, Malekith becomes King, the Skaven defeat the Dwarfs , the Lizardmen leave and Archaon wrecks the Empire.
>>98115143>That is exactly what the End Times wereNo, they weren't.The end times were about handwaving away as many factions as possible in order to focus on a handful of characters only, and with the express purpose of paving the way for the age of sigmar and those characters becoming gods, not to give satisfying climaxes to each part of the setting.Remember the idea that the oldest dragon ogres and dragons would rise again when the end times come? Or more personal hooks like malekith having a prophecy about his demise? Or even just the ones the end times set on their own like settra being remade at the end of the first book, or skarsnik being one of the two chosen greenskins. The end times was a poorly handled mess, you cannot claim in good conscience that it tried, let alone managed, to give warhammer an ending based on what warhammer already promised or proposed would happen in the end.It went through the same pitfalls of focusing on haphazardly introduced brand new stuff at the cost of everything else because the new products needed to be advertised (like with the glottkin) and because the new setting needed to be legitimised (like with the incarnation of the winds)
>>98115143The only prophesied theory happening in the end times was nagash and archaon. Rest of it read like a skaven wankfest.
>>98114802It is well known that anons on this thread are allergic to literacy
>>98115061Was this guy originally going to be the Khorne version of Tamurkhan when we were supposed to get one for each god?
>>98115553according to the sculptor, nobut we do not believe her lies
Want to have fun playing 6 edition.Which of these 3 armies:BretoniaWood ElvesVampire counts
>>98115634Vampires Counts
>>98115634>cavalry spam>arrows faggotry>hordes borebogwhatever you choose, your opponent will hate you
>>98115553sculptor said he was sculpted entirely during aosThough there's no way they didn't reuse some concept art or whatever
>>98114597Sure, but that doesn't really say anything considering in 10 of those 30 years whf wasn't supported, and in the prior 20 when it did have support you didn't have widespread internet usage making it easier to play & find games for pretty much any supported game regardless of popularity.Hell, if you kept playing whf in 2014 forward I bet you could effortlessly get in more games of whf using the internet to set up games/group chats than you could have in all the prior 20 years it DID have support.
>>98115715if you're using the internet to find games instead of merely helping with scheduling you're doing something wrong
>>98115703I guess 'spam thing & who cares if my opponent's having fun' is a character, because I know three people who gravitate around these three armies & always do exactly this.
>>98115715the internet?no. you go to the club or the store and find a game. talk to the FLGS owner to see whos interested, they know everyone who plays every game, even when i stopped playing in 2005 you could just show up to the store with your ogres or whatever and find a game or organize one.
>>98115728>Nooo you can't befriend people by talking to them in the lgs's group chat, you have to randomly bump into them at the store, magicaly know they're interested in the same game as you, and make awkward small talk first What retarded boomer hangup is this?
>>98115760>boomer....what thread do you think you're in exactly?
>>98115728The internet lets you keep in touch with people you meet at your LGS or at events. That's the glory of the world wide web, anon. Local communities organize chatrooms where people can not only discuss the game (and have generally higher quality discussions than here, most of the time) but also schedule games too. It's good stuff, and while yes you should get introduced to your local community in person before being directed to the internet chat rooms I see no reason why you couldn't work backwards from the internet to your local community.
>>98115782The zoomer tourist TWWslop thread, of course.
>>98115754>even when i stopped playing in 2005 you could just show up to the store with your ogres or whatever and find a game or organize oneYeah, and the interaction went like this:>Ah you hear to play warhammer? Sorry dude, you want anon, he's usually here on Thursdays. Come back next week. >Ah it's you again, you want anon? Sorry dude, you just missed him, come back next week and I'll make sure he stays a little late.>How's it goin, I'm anon. You wanna play warhammer? Well I just finished this game so we can't do it today, why don't you come back next week?>Ah sorry dude, you got here a minute late and we all already paired up, why don't you come back next week and I PROMISE I'll catch a game with just you.>Ah you're looking for anon, he's actually sick this week but he said he will absolutely catch your game next week>Hey man, sorry I was sick last week, let's catch our game!At which point you'll have taken about a month and a half to actually get a single game, at any point which you might have (reasonably) lost interest or had your own schedule issues get in the way (eg Thursday is 'warhammer day' but you work late on Thursdays.) Nowadays with a group chat/lgs discord, it's this:>Who wants a game Friday at 5?>MeAnd that's all it takes. Game in a handful of days.
>>98115061>non-serpentine dragonIT'S FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!!!!! unironically
>>98115703>>98115732I just like those armies aesthetically speaking, I want my oponen to have fun, not making crazy ultra competitive list, just fluffly ones.
>>98115846>major eastern Ostland cityOddly specific.>capturing a Beastman aliveUnwise.
>>98115881>Oddly specific. That's cuz my beasts call their home in a patch of woodlands on the border of the Empire and Kislev.
>>98115876>I just like those armies aesthetically speakingThe problem is each of their perceived aesthetics by most players gravitate around 2 or 3 units which players spam and wind up being disgustingly anti fun skew armies. Best example is Bretonnia- nobody thinks of 100 stinky peasants & a trebuchet or two when you say Bretonnia, they imagine grail knights, so they spam doom stacks of cavalry and lock the opponent out of the game with mass consistent turn 1/2 charges.
>>98115846>Major Ostland city Isn't that really only Wolfenburg and nowhere else?
>>98115828when will gw make a good dragon like pic related?
>>98115977That’s an alligator.

>>98116034>For brets i want dryads, archers, kurnous, wardancers and a treeman because Treebeard.
>>98115821lol that was not my experience at any of the 3 stores in my city. FLGS posts the weekly schedule on the stores whiteboard or a printout, ah, i see, warhammer fantasy day is X day of the week, show up that day, get games. its that easy. odd number of players? people always down for some 3 man narrative nonsense like a siege or an ambush or something. i dont know how or why you ran into so much trouble
>>98116001Everyone with taste agrees: trash Carden dragon sculpts suck. The only good dragon models GW has released have been Smaug (they didn't design it) and Miao (once again, they didn't design it, CA did).Honorable mention goes to the magmadroth, but it doesn't have wings so it's not really a dragon. Amazing monster sculpt though
>>98116095The situation that anon was describing is not one where a store has a dedicated day, ie a big enough group they have bothered to set aside space for Warhammer fantasy. He is saying it was a situation where it is one or two other people, tops, who play, and you are some random nobody they won't go out of their way to make an effort to coordinate a game with
Any digital boys on? I have a friend that is working on painting up a TK army, and we are looking to start playing in the interim. Trying to see what's better - Warhall, Tabletop Simulator, or some other solution.
