Why does it always seem like there’s something off with humanoid characters in AI generated art? It always seems like the characters are too stiff or posed wrong somehow but I can’t put my finger on it. They look like action figures with stiff joints rather than naturally posed figures.
>>
>>98122661
Lack of human SOVL
>>
>>98122661
Because you can tell it's not art. There's no artistic intent behind the placement of anything in the picture, the AI doesn't know what an elemental is, it doesn't even know what a human is. All it knows is that in training data with similar tags, this kind of pixel goes next to that kind of pixel. It has no artistic intent whatsoever, its only goal is to place matching pixels next to each other with a limited margin of error designed to emulate a sufficient remix of the training material to not constitute copyright violation.

I thought it was lame how they just backdoored Fortress Dieron, especially when the Dracs should know it way better having owned it for hundreds of years. Hell, Teddy commanded the War of '39 from there.

I actually though the coolest part of the book was the Drac commander dueling with his old Naganita at the end, just because it's such a forgotten ugly brick of a mech. It was neat to see the old heap get a little spotlight.

Yeah, that the Stoners built a backdoor to it that somehow never got discovered, but it just felt contrived. You know how many good actual frontal fortress assualts we've got to see over canon? Just a tiny handful outside the Wobbies in the Jihad. It's always "Someone snuck in" or "We had a traitor on the inside" or "We blasted it from orbit" Sometimes, I just want to see the knight slay the dragon and not be subverted, you know? Probably also still tweaked how Stone abandoned all his fortresses in that battle for Terra.

The Batchall Problem
A slimy Clanner commander is trying to sell you his shitty batchall. Ever since the Evil Federated Commonwealth used Free Guild Communism for no other reason than to make domestic mercs go bankrupt and further their homosexual urbanmechanisation program, you can now only claim assault 'Mechs as salvage from the Clans. But, your poor Capellan grandmother is dying of the Alarion Hanta Virus brought into the Inner Sphere by BLAKISTS and if you can't secure the antiviral meds by raiding a Lyran biolab, she may die, making you have to choose between her life and giving legitimacy to a Clanner.

However, the Clanners are as a people inherently immoral and any legitimacy given to them will be used for evil purposes. Such as the further Erosion of the Free Rasalhague Republic, worsening the problem of Galactic Clanification. Do you accept the batchall?
>>
>>98123639
I've got most of them. We also have scans in the trove.
>>
>>98123622
Lasers are also a sign of being broke and not being able to pay for ammunition. The exception is if you have many high-heat energy weapons that you manage with double heatsinks. That’s a sign of being cool, which will help you land a Centrella.
>>
>>98123664
Saw the scans, love the art, is it like a normal-sized book, or like a mini book?
>>
>>98123686
Smaller than most comic books.

It between the years 3000-3025 and you have just inherited a Mech Factory. Unfortunately for your dreams of producing proper Battlemechs, the factory is a mere Industrialmech factory. Yet, knowing that the Mackie was made by an IndustrialMech manufacturer, you try to keep your dream of producing Battlemechs alive by designing what would have been the Militiamechs seen in the Dark Age Era.

Conditions:
>If you want it to sell, you must be competitive per ton with an Urbanmech, so for every 5 Tons, you add 250k C-Bills to your Dry Cost budget. (ex. 30 Ton has a 1.5 Million C-Bill dry cost max, a 55 ton has a 2.75 Million C-Bill dry cost max, etc)
>For every 1 Positive Quirk, you must add 1 Negative Quirk (Max 4 Quirks total)
>You don't have the contacts to get any of the Experimental or Prototype tech and it is far too early for any Clan tech, but you know a guy who can get you a supply of Advanced level tech if you don't ask too many questions.
>You need to have at least 1 piece of Industrial equipment to maintain existing contracts (Rock Cutter, Pile Driver, Wrecking Ball, Chainsaw, etc - your choice as to what the company was previously making)

(Optional) By the time of the 3040-3045, you will have consistent enough contracts to be able to transfer to upgrade it to a proper Battlemech and enough contacts that you can use the Helm Memory Core information to upgrade the design. Try to keep the spirit of your original design, but:
>Dry Cost no longer matters
>You can choose to remove the Industrial equipment.

Pic Related is my fuckass attempt at this. At 35 Tons, I had a 1.75 Million C-Bill dry cost max, and this comes in at 1.61 Million.

Anon both the Vedette Medium Tank and the LRM/SRM Carriers where in massive use prior to the clan invasion. The Vedette went into production in 2943 while the LRM/SRM carrier beat the Vedette production line by 500 years.

Both of them where wildly available to even pirate nations during the 3rd and 4th Succession Wars. Go read TRO 3026 in the Trove as it has information on both CVs.
>>
>>98123772
I actually had something mostly built for this. Here's a construction Mech meant to build base defenses.
>>
>>98123809
Did you even fucking read?
>>
To whit
"Licensed by Defiance Industries to manufacturers across the Inner Sphere, the Manticore XL entered production in 3117 at facilities on Hesperus II, Proserpina, Panpour, and Ares. The design draws inspiration from the Manticore II, incorporating an extra-light engine and targeting computer while maintaining the original sixty-ton chassis to allow production on existing Manticore factory lines."

"The Armor Vedette of the ilClan era represents the accumulated results of more than a century of incremental improvement applied to the original hull. Built on the fuel cell platform pioneered by the Cell variant, it mounts an Ultra AC/10, heavy machine gun, and heavy ferro-fibrous armor in the heaviest configuration ever applied to the standard Vedette hull. The moniker 'Armor Vedette' distinguishes it as a qualitatively different vehicle from earlier variants despite the shared lineage. Multiple manufacturers across competing factions produce it simultaneously, making parts widely available. CASE protects the ammunition bins. The vehicle is best employed in line-breaking and direct fire support roles, delivering heavy autocannon fire while absorbing punishment that would destroy earlier variants."
>>
"Joint Equipment Systems developed the SRM Carrier C for the Rasalhague Dominion, with additional production at Quikscell plants on Kalidasa and Pandora. Other Clans rapidly trialed for or copied the hardened armor innovation, and mercenary commands have embraced the semi-modular turret design for its field maintenance advantages."

"Joint Equipment Systems developed the LRM Carrier C for the Rasalhague Dominion following the Jihad, when the devastated Bear touman needed upgraded hardware. The success of the Viking IIC's hardened armor inspired the design. Quikscell plants on Kalidasa and Pandora also produce the C variant, ensuring availability beyond Dominion borders. Other Clans quickly trialed for or copied the innovations, and mercenary commands have embraced the design for its modular turret system."
>>
In conclusion, you are a gigantic faggot retard.
>>
>>98123835
I was initially confused why there were 6 half-ton cargo bins instead of 1 three-ton cargo bins, but when I checked in MegaMek, the three-ton setup only takes up 3 critical slots instead of six. That is hilarious that that makes it harder for an LRM ammo explosion to happen by a significant margin from eliminating 3 roll agains.

They should have kept the reformed star league around. That way the clans can seethe about it for all time. Would have been better than what we have now.

I noticed, but there are better variants then that. Vedette NETC works just fine, the LRM 3055 comes with Artemis and a C3 Slave and the theres a MRM carrier with a C3 slave as well. Much cheaper both Cbills and BV wise.

A continued 2SL would have stabilised IS politics and made major wars less likely. Fewer wars means no fights, no fights means FASA/FPR/CGL can't sell books about those fights, and if they can't sell books the franchise dies. You can't sell products for a wargame if there aren't any, y'know, *wars*.
Happy-ever-after is what fanfic and AUs are for. For the mainline franchise to exist, anything that stabilises the situation (the FedCom, 2SL, etc.) not only has to fail, it has to blow up in the worst possible fashion and *cause* more wars.

Things must always get worse, please understand.

Keep the 2SL till they eliminate the Clans then watch it all collapse into infighting.

>a major hostile force is setting up camp right next to us
>Team up to defend yourselves?
>only for a few years and then disband because...reasons
>get invaded again and get curb stomped
>IF ONLY THERE WAS SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS!
>>

Honestly that's what I would have preferred
>SL2 forms
>Massive campaign to drive the clans from the inner sphere
>Manage to succeed
>Decide to keep pushing and invade clan space
>An even costlier campaign but succeeds, set up an SLDF occupational government over clan space
>With no threats remaining, try fighting periphery, it's costly and pointless
>Houses largely stop caring and the war is entirely propped up by the undersized SLDF
>Star league eventually collapses as one house sees a chance to take everything and stop this stupid power sharing
>In the chaos of the fifth succession war the clans rebel, their culture forever changed by their defeat and conquest by the inner sphere
>Some clanners had joined the SLDF like the nova cats
>After the collapse of the second Star League a decent portion of the SLDF try to seize Terra to outright destroy the Great Houses and rebuild the Star League as a centralized government
>SLDF remnant is a mixture of former clanners, former mercs and a handful of house troops seconded to the SLDF who stuck around (Erudani Light Horse, Blackwatch, Novacats, some Wolves, Bears, and maybe a few other random clusters)

I don't see the point in a 2SL allowing Clan culture to coexist even under occupation. A 2SL that manages to put the Clans on the back foot (despite the Clans possessing superior space power) would invariably have to eliminate them as an institution or never sleep easy. The Clans surviving in any identifiable sense would be wishy-washy storytelling, because a pragmatic 2SL would wipe out a lifestyle so drastically incompatible with its polity.

The starleague wouldn't wanna look like monsters for genocideing another culture. Pushing the clans back into clan space and occupying it would be the best political option. Plus, it would humiliate the clans to their core. The very thing they tried to be, their entire legacy, kicked their ass all the way back to their core worlds and they can't do a thing about the occupation.

I could see a scenario where the Clans get defeated and their culture gets watered down due to IS influence via occupation forces. Pretty sure all the civilian castes would enjoy all the new freedom they get. Then as the 2nd SL collapses all the resources and culture from the IS stops and you see a Clan resurgence, quite possible even see 2nd SL troops actively joining with the Clans due to being pissed off with the trouble back home, so they then form a second Clan Invasion with the intent of reforming the SL at gunpoint but this time with much greater popular support i.e. Clan warriors act less retarded and more humble so common folk actively want to help them. So basically another faction with the goals of the Blakists and you get Amaris Coup 2.0

How naive
>>
The Clans .... are nothing more than a watered down Caesar's Legion in philosophy and objectives
>>
>>98124064
That's really cool bro, you've inspired me, I'm gonna try and see if I can kit-bash a convincing temjin if I'm feeling really ambitious I might try to do fei-yen
>>
>>98125125
The clans predate caesar's legion by decades.
>>
>>98125264
Wrong. Caesar's Legion were founded in 2247, and the Clans were founded in 2807

>>98125125
If you read up on the NCR region it has a resemblance to Van Buren right down to the factions involved.

That was more or less my thoughts (original greentext guy). Their culture isn't actively snuffed out but is largely passively destroyed as the individual occupation zones (I think clanspace would end up like post-WW2 Germany with Kurita, Davion, Steiner, Marik, and Liao getting occupation zones which would probably treat the clans differently) start to assimilate them into the inner sphere between civilian castes being actively freed and interacting with spheroid occupiers. After the collapse of SL2 I was thinking clan space would be passively abandoned, none of the zones formally abandoned, but FWL isn't going to send a force across the inner sphere and then into the deep periphery to put down a rebellion in a place they probably don't even get resources from.

The clanners themselves I think would still factionalize, some being sort of like militant spheroids (we lost because the spheroid culture was superior in some fashion, abandon the castes but keep having tube babies and high mortality rates for training, anyone can apply to be a soldier, just expect to die failing your dream) and others reacting the opposite, focusing on the most pure interpretation of clan culture and thinking anyone with spheroid taint must (inevitably) be culturally annihilated, not even letting tainted clanners join their warrior caste.

The ones who actively join the SLDF are probably still somewhat influenced by the IS, but as long as they join in groups (eg. an entire cluster or galaxy joining) I think they'd be able to preserve their culture. The end result being the second SLDF might have some weird formations eg
>Eridani Light Horse Brigade
>Royal Blackwatch
>First Royal Battlemech Regiment
>Clan Nova Cat Touman
>3rd Battle Cluster (Wolf)
>22nd Mechanized Assault Cluster (Horses)
>85th Adder Cavalier Cluster (Adders)
>4th Oriente Fusilier Regiment (Former FWL)
>12th Arcturan Guard Regiment (Former Lyran)

It's a nice thing to focus on, going for the mid-tier lore enjoyers rather than just the surface stuff.

Yeah, you get to go against the vipers as well this is dope

While you've had mercenary units employed by the Draconis Combine that reaped the rewards of their service to the Combine (McGee's Cutthroats until they ended their service in 3029 and renamed themselves Simonson's Cutthroats, Big Kev's Brigade, the Shady Ladies, and the Plague Boys) and units that successfully rebelled due to ill treatment, albeit with high casualties (Wolf's Dragoons and the Paul Bunyan Regiment), were there other mercenary units that ate dirt for the Combine and were "rewarded" by being conscripted into the Combine's Mustered Soldiery (like what happened to Kelly's Killers per The Heir to the Dragon)?

>Tempted to field a militia of garbage mechs, tanks, and maybe even some infantry

Maybe alpha strike I guess.

Suffice to say, your cancer is not service related, Mr. unshielded particle accelerator operator.

I think you could carve another half-ton off by turning the rear axle into a single wheel.

That certainly is a mech.

It is without a doubt one of the mechs of all time.
