D&D is "male-brained" as it stems from Gygax's war gaming experience and his personal unrelenting autismPlenty of other RPG's break away from that and also tap into the LARPs, collaborative storytelling games, even rules lite war games, etc that were already happening before D&D was published. D&D is not the only the TTRPG.

Hasbro or Mattel or whoever realized that little boys get into the mindset of a character while little girls have that character do things they themselves do. Boys playing with batman action figures will try to be batman, while girls will have batman do things they would do. This must mean good roleplaying is masculine and bad roleplaying is feminine.

So the manliness ceiling for TTRPGs is as high as for wargames. On the other hand, wargames can be pretty feminine with armies painted in glittery pink, cooperative scenarios, and TTRPGs allow for more femininity. But, this can also be good contrast to the masculine parts to shine brighter. So really, the answer as always is "it depends"
