How do we feel about female players at the table?
>>98132119They can be fine.
>>98132122I find they are more invested in the RP.
>>98132119Depending on the girl, they're great either under the table or on top of it.
>>98132127Well those are 2/3 of the acronym
>>98132119There are terrible, mid and great female players just like there are terrible, mid and great male players. The only consistent gender difference I've noticed throughout my 15 years of GMing is that I never had a female player who was genuinely invested in the mechanics beyond what they needed to know to play their character.
>>98132119She's not dead, it's a larp. I wish women put that kind of acting effort into their role-playing
>>98132119Why is she not on my dick?
>>98132119I've only had the good pleasure of one female player, and that was a text game so my sample size is statistically irrelevant. Still probably better than "woman" players though, I'll gladly take having to explain guy culture than have to endure a guy emulating their concept of lady culture.
>>98132194>I never had a female player who was genuinely invested in the mechanics beyond what they needed to know to play their character.someday people will realize women do not / can not conceptualize gameplay as a thing to enjoy and thus don't care about it outside of possible social or artistic benefit.
>>98132119Women tend to be low IQ (particularly when it comes to the areas of math, logical reasoning and planning which are all of particular importance to tt gaming) and overly emotional so prepare yourself to endlessly re-explain simple rules and put up with a whole lot of drama.
>>98132119Women don't, can't, and shouldn't play games.
>>98132119Played with a couple and they were varying levels of good, but as the other anons said, they couldn't care less for the specifics of the game's mechanics. Alright, that's not totally true. The DM's wife did engage a bit more when playing a rogue specially because she didn't want to end up cheating by accident as far as I could tell.
>>98132119Traditional games?
All mammals are by default females. During the initial foetus period, they are neutral, by week 6 the gonads become male or female depending on the gene. Still by week 8 if the foetus do not produce two particular hormones, they default to female (even if the XY programmed it to develop testes) and the testes will be stuck inside and look and act like a female but have no uterus and no fallopian tubes.
>>98132248No one is on your dick because no one can find it.
>>98132366>t, faggot who nogames is because he retarded.
>>98132119feet pics for admition at the table.only other reason to accept one is that she's the lesbian bro or the gf of the dude putting the house for the group (she already lives there)
>>98132421Yes, we can tell you are retarded nogames who no one wants to be around. Kill yourself.
>>98132119You shouldn't be touching them, let alone feeling about them.
>>98132119Girls have cooties!
>>98132542Case in point
>>98132421>Women can't play gamesTell that to my wife, all she does is play games
>>98132119I haven't had any problems with women that wanted to be there. The problem is usually when a woman that doesn't really want to be there is dragged along by a SO.>>98132194> I never had a female player who was genuinely invested in the mechanics beyond what they needed to know to play their character.I've noticed this as well
>>98132119Love womenShrimple as
>>98132776Yes, those who make a big deal about IQ are stupid as you show in your retarded posts.
>>98132119They're usually bad players in the sense that they're univested in the game or too retarded to learn the rules but they tend to be easy fucks and most will let you stick it in their ass by the second date.
>>98132119IF THE FEMALE PLAYERS WANT TO PLAY SOME GAY BULLSHIT RUNNING ON POWERED BY THE APOCALYPSE, THEN WE KICKED THAT FAGGOT FEMALE OUT.A PRIDE FAG ORGY ON THE TABLE IS LESS GAY THAN FUCKING POWERED BY THE APOCALYPSE.
>>98132119Most women I've played with were okay, if wanting to be a main character and the others serving them or being irrelevant. The real problems were men pretending to be women.
The worst experience I've had with a female plater involved them cheating on one player with another player, and basically nuking the group. The best experience I've had with a female playing involved her being a massive, self-centered sperg. When I asked her to stop, she threw a fit and tried to nuke the campaign, but failed and eventually left.I have not yet had a positive experience with a female player, and at this point I would be very hesitant to play with one again.
>>98132119The uglier they are, the better player they are.
>>98132119They're people like anyone they can be good or bad players and not fully one or the other.>>98132127This I've found accurate too.The more combat focused players don't always get involved in that and they don't always enjoy combat so they don't always enjoy the same table.I've played with the same amount of women as men on several tables.I've only had issues with one women, a friends wife got into the roll play, had a severe case of character bleed when I introduced the campaigns mini boss, an Adult Green Dragon and she had a panic attack and decision paralysis. Killed the campaign for a year and it only started again once her and her husband were divorced and he wanted to start playing again.
>>98132966>she had a panic attack and decision paralysis. From fighting a dragon in TTRPG?!
>>98132119 No great expirience in The Germanosphere They all wanna play the dark eye (terrible) and want to focus on roleplaying instead of monster slaying Only roleplay for them means pretending you’re at a ren fair They also all without fail want an animal companion which they want you to roleplay constantly
>>98132119Great. I've almost exclusively had skilled women as players. The only ones who were really bad were women who got into it because their boyfriend/husband plays. They tend to be disinterested in the game in general.
>>98132983>>98132983Yeah, running a levelled up DoIP with venomfang added in, I introduced the green dragon by having it invisible, with them sensing impact tremors. The party had done really well on stealth checks, with a natural 20 and the rest over 17.Venomfang used a breath weapon on the spiders in Thunder tree and I used the giant spider I'd run as a mini boss in the mines to show how strong she was, by having the dragon grab her still wriggling body fly up to the tower and start eating it.I then asked what the party wanted to do. She couldn't make a decision, kept repeating, "I don't want to fight a dragon." Her husband had popped out of the room to use the loo, the other player tried making suggestions to keep hiding.I pointed out where in the ruins of thunder tree they'd cleared, where they hadn't, that they were well hidden, they could choose to keep exploring the ruins or leave. They just kept repeating " I don't know what to do, I don't want to fight a dragon"By the time her husband came back out me and the other player at the table were saying she was kinda freaking us out.Which she denied, and went back into her loop, "I'm not doing anything, I don't know what to do, I don't want to fight a dragon, he's going to kill us, DM ANON want's to kill us."Her own husband said "You're doing it now."She flipped out, said if she was the problem, if she's always the problem, she'd just quit.Killed the game. In hindsight I should have waited till her husband came back to the table, an extra player to make the decision could have avoided her feeling under pressure to make a decision.I was just a bit keen to get the mini of Cryovane on the table since it had just arrived that day! We've started up again now, my fiance's brother is playing and he's really combat focused, which has caused the remaining players to start thinking more about combat than, walk up to enemy and hit them repeatedly.Pic Related, it's the set up on thundertree.
>>98132267Funny how it's like a mirror to how guys are with RP. They're incapable of enjoying it for the sake of it, which is why you'll never find them freeform roleplaying just for the sake of it.
>>98133170>when you're such a good gm that the fear aura extends into irlKinda nuts
>>98132538;_; no need to rub it in anon
>>98132248Talking about OP pic girl or girls in your games?
>>98132819There seems to be a story behind your post.
>>98133190Yeah, it was a bit of a shock, she was getting pretty good at role playing and my fiance enjoys that aspect also. But I'd never experience character bleed, so I didn't know how to handle it.With a majority male table now that aspect of the game is a little more, me voicing characters and them responding, less them role playing with each other.I'm just glad to be playing again regardless.
female players are fine, it's just a matter of them not being mentally retarded, same as male playersfemale gms are a bit weird tho, from my experience.
>>98133414>But I'd never experience character bleedYou keep saying "character bleed" like anyone else knows what you're talking about
>>98132119They can be OK but it should generally be avoided, because female psychology and motivations are different from male psychology and motivations, and their presence can easily shift both structure/expectations and group dynamics negatively.
>>98132194>beyond what they needed to know to play their character.I want to claim that they are not even invested in that; they merely accept that as the bare minimum to be able to participate in the social activity.>>98132267This. I am not even shitting on women here; it is simply that they are genuinely psychologically different from men, and that includes deriving pleasure from different things in different ways. When these things are at odds, there is nothing wrong with enjoying these things separately. But since women are creatures of social benefit, they often see this exclusion from a social context as an attack, and will seek to insert themselves, so it falls upon men to now allow the undermining of their own spaces.
>>98132989>They also all without fail want an animal companionThis is OK, based even.>which they want you to roleplay constantly.Completely unacceptable. Animal companions of any kind are played by the GM or another player, or else they are not their own beings and merely an extension of the player character. Companions of all kinds are imperfect creatures and should act to the best of their ability, but there should be an element wilfulness or self-preservation or possibility for misunderstanding, etc.
>>98133565>now*Not.
>>98133571>Animal companions of any kind are played by the GM or another playeris that not what "which they want you to roleplay constantly" means?I assume anon meant that the tedium comes from putting constant strain on the GMI agree with your post, mind
>>98132119Three out of the five female players I have known were peak degenerate. One of the others was just there for the roleplay because she was a theatre kid and her boyfriend played. The other was actually a great DM, even if she seemed to like romance-heavy subplots a lot. Or it felt like she was dropping me in them because I was playing a CHA stat character.
>>98133175Eh, that's a bullshit dichotomy, I know plenty of guys who do love to roleplay and craft a good story and go to great lengths just for the sake of it. Also a fair number of male larpers.>>98133565>I want to claim that they are not even invested in that; they merely accept that as the bare minimum to be able to participate in the social activity. In case of most that I know it's true, but I do have a regular female player who's always interested in understanding the system and exploring her options far beyond the bare minimum, but only when it comes to things connected to actually building and playing her character as well and as faithful to the concept as possible. She also loves rolling new characters just for the sake of it. However, even she would basically never theory craft much or read rules or systems she doesn't really need just for the sake of it, while many of my male players absolutely do
I legit like having them around. They realize that the game session is a sort of small party where the GM is host so they'll often provide something, eg bringing a dessert to share. They're pretty good roleplayers and sometimes negotiate instead of killing everything around them like pitbulls on meth. And the fellas behave more when they're around and don't do weird stuff like screaming war cries at the table or showing up unshowered. I'm actually hesitant to run with all-male groups these days. Women really do hold up half the sky.
>>98132552She's not gonna fuck you lil nigga
>>98133816How many fedoras do you own?
>>98133839Enough about you and your B.O, tard nogames.
>>98133513Because we do. Because we're not FUCKING NEWFAG NORMIES, REEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>98132475I only see this brought up by feminists for some reason
>>98132119I don't outright ban women. If you want to avoid bad players then refrain from inviting people you don't know to the table. The trick is to identify problem people long before you ever ask if they would like to play.
>>98132475So women are just undeveloped men?
>>98136706I've been browsing this board for far, far too long, and I have no recollection of this ever being a thing.
>>98137490>>98133513It's not an idea solely expressed on /tg/ but a term used by the more emotionally/role play invested parts of the community. It's basically, feeling the emotional state of the character as if you are the character experiencing. It's breaking down the separation of fantasy and reality.Closest most normies would get is watching a horror film and feeling scared. You can see it sometimes in other live play games where the players cry over something happening in game. Most of us won't get THAT emotionally invested in the game. Sometimes people do without realizing it, sometimes they deliberately try to achieve that state. In this instance, it was unhealthy and disruptive.
>>98132780I've never seen a wild Dangerfield post. Nice
>>98133175That's ridiculous. Every boy used to "play pretend" same as the girls did, and TRPGs are just "playing pretend" but for adults and with rules so it's cool and not childish and you don't have to feel insecure about it. The fun never went away, you just had to become an adult.
>>98137879No, no. They don't actually care about it, beyond social or artistic benefit. They don't REALLY appreciate, it, like how there's tonnes of women who play games but for some reason don't actually enjoy them. It's all much performative. You can trust me, I'm an armchair.
>>98132119I've only ever had one good experience and many bad ones.
>>98137715I like your table set up. Also, this 'character bleed' thing sounds completely insane and anyone afflicted by this needs help.
>>98132475>in the very beginning, we are all single cell organisms#bansoap
>>98132780K E K rip legend
>>98132119Same as anyone else.Assholes until and unless they prove otherwise and thus not allowed at the table until vetted.
>>98132267Women like video games. I think they just realize that if the gameplay is designed to facilitate a group of friends telling a story together, the story and the together are what matters
>>98132119One is ok, and more than one is ok if they are VERY CLOSE FRIENDS.Two women without any relationship between them in a game initiates the hugest ego battle ever seen, to the point that they end fighting over 90% of the choices, puzzles or rewards.
>>98138604It is, and they do.
>>98138567>even that I never played with women or even talked to one outside of family I am going to try to tell everyone about women.
