The plastic is softer and the sculpts are less detailed but at less than 60p a bloke from a discounted retailer, they are absolutely blinding value. I bought both them and the female box and they're very characterful minis. They also come with the plasma gun and a Blade Runner pistol, along with knives, backpacks, ammo pouches and spare mags and loose guns. Shitloads of heads too, both helmeted, visor-helmeted, capped, and bare-headed/bald+shockcollared. I'm holding off building all mine till the Damned army gets here so I can mix and match a shitload of parts like I'm ten and playing with Orks for the first time again.

A little drill with sandpaper to buff out mold lines before you even start priming helps remove imperfections quickly.Blending is usually a factor of applying thin layers and washes. An airbrush setup seems is a big investment, but it also is like an auto-thinning and speeds everything up if you have a lot of models.Looks good, I love the helmet and gold on both the soldier and horse.

They are all pretty much the same height, with the stargrave mini being like 2mm shorter. Its not an issue with the guns/arms tho.I think all of these work well together. However, the stargrave heads have a rather big and flat neck joint, where the WGA figures (both on this pic) have a more narrow neck opening. Especially the cannon fodder collar is too small for any stargrave (or GW) head, without cutting. Same is with GW heads and the Damned bodies. The heads have the right size, but the necks are too thick.Lastly my thoughts about the Cannon Fodder: I picked 4 sprues of the females with my Damned Pledge, because the female sprue came later than the male sprue(s), has better poses, and more weapon variety. However, the difference in sculpting between them and the damned sculpts is like day and night. You can see it on the picture a bit, but the details on the damned body are a lot better. I was really surprised how much i noticed that when i looked through those sprues.

So after getting into Frostgrave and enjoying the game I have come across something that I would call a complaint.Everywhere you hear about the game it's touted as being cheap to play, and while this holds true for a SINGLE basic player vs. player introductory match, it does not hold true if you wish to play the game again and in the fashion it is meant to be played, as a continuing campaign.For that you need 75-100 miniatures for the bestiary and 15-25 miniatures for your warband as well as at least a milk crate full of terrain.For anyone not in possession of both an FDM and SLA printer, this can easily get into the range of $1000 or more.Yes it's mini agnostic, but if you're stuck with retail minis as your option that will get expensive fast even with the cheapest sellers.The only way to keep the game cheap (without printers) is to use books and cereal boxes as terrain and have a handful of monsters that you proxy as anything you role on the encounter table, because to do otherwise means you need in the range of 5 each of skeletons, zombies, ghouls, wolves, rats, imps, etc.. and at least 3 each of wraiths, bears, vampire, werewolves, etc... and 1 each for a giant, troll, worm, yeti, etc...So again, I do enjoy it, I am going to continue with it, I just wish ANY article, video or forum discussing it had been open and honest about the scale of miniature investment and the reality of cost, because what it takes to start playing is a long fucking way off of what it takes to repeatedly play.Oh and all this is assuming you stick to only the core rule book, no supplements, if you go with all the supplements your mini collection could easily get up to 300-500 miniatures for the bestiary.Additional additional, a variety of terrain for repeat gaming is going to at the very least be 3 milk crates full, so full investment in the tabletop can easily get up to $2000-$3000 all things considered (again assuming no printing)

This isn't really the best thread for this I guess but there's no design thread up right now, do you guys think 1d20 or 3d6 is better for a skirmish wargame if a main mechanic is like, rolling multiple dice and keeping the highest or the lowest? For example on 3d6 you might end up rolling 5d6 and keeping 3 of them, or on d20 you might roll 3d20 and keep one.I actually don't really like the bell curve on 3d6 for this type of game, I feel like it works better for an RPG and I like the randomness of 1d20 more, but I really dislike how big the shift is from 1d20 to 2d20 keep highest in terms of how probable higher results are and so on whereas with 3d6 it's a lot smoother of a shift as you add dice. I am like so torn about this but I have to make a decision and just commit to it at this point, I can't keep going back and forth. Do you guys have any opinions?
