Is there a better litmus test for potential playoids than asking them if they're okay filling the role of cleric in the party? 1) Clerics are a flexible class. They can cast spells, mix it up in melee, and shoot a crossbow. There's always something fun to do but you're not the best at anything. (That Guy min-maxers hate the idea of being a jack of all trades).2) Clerics help other characters with buff spells and healing. (Selfish players don't want an auxiliary role, they want to be personally fireballing the monsters at every turn). 3) Clerics are religious figures who get their powers from deities. (Autistic fedora atheists with no imagination are often unable to set aside their hatred of real-life religions to play around in a fantasy world).

>>98133924>That Guy min-maxers hate the idea of being a jack of all tradesI'm playing a Cleric/ Ordained Champion/Knight of the Raven/ Crusader/ Righteous Cohort.Had I optimized the character for being as absurdly powerful as possible (instead of being in line with the rest of the party), he'd have the capacity to ruin the game, only second to the Bard/ Lyric Thaumaturge/ Sublime Chord/ Abjurant Champion, I think.Actually, probably not, since his spell access would be extremely limited no matter what compared to my character who knows all Cleric spells by default.>tl;drlol, lmao.
>>98133933You don't play anything, retard.
>>98133924Oh wait, that's not the puckfag, he doesn't ever change the filenames. It's some retard who downloaded one of the spammed commissions and used it for his idiotic babble.I'm almost happy for this novelty.
>>98133924>clerics>not the best at anything.Kys, zoomoid.
>>98133924Why do you refuse to play games?
>>98133924>optimizers hate being clericsSmoking fuckin crack over here.
>>98133924Nah, Jack of All Trades characters shouldn't exist in a class-based cooperative game. If you can do everything well you don't need a party, making Clerics the most min-maxy class of all. It's why I stripped their access to martial weapons and heavy armor entirely. That's the realm of a Paladin.
Clerics are based imo
>>98136112It's by far my favorite class or archetype.Or at least the more Warpriest-y types are.

>>98133924I resent playing Clerics because my first time playing d&d (but not first time playing ttrpg) rather than asking the dm simply instantly killed any character I tried to play at first chance he got while the others at the table laughed, only until after the game saying I should have looked at the party composition and figured out that I should have made a healing focused cleric. Because I couldn't figure out that they only wanted a heal bot I was clearly too stupid to play d&d.I broke his nose for insulting me to my face when I was already annoyed and never played ttrpgs with someone I only knew from association with someone I actually knew again, since it turns out the vast majority of people into ttrpgs are assholes and you have to know for a fact that they aren't a asshole before even considering playing with them.Regardless it tainted any association with clerics or healing focused classes in general and to this day I 100% refuse to ever under any circumstance play a healing focused class as even the idea of it makes me angry. Fuck clerics and fuck playing with strangers. Most people are dicks who weren't hit enough as children.

>>98133924The real litmus test is seeing what system the DM is running. If you're still running D&D 5e in 2020+, you don't need a litmus for me, because I'm not wasting my time with your and whatever retards you roped into playing such a non-functional dumpster fire of a """game""".
