It does work as a beer & pretzels game.If you get 3 frinds and start to tryhard to win, it kindda holds its weight, the card economy works, but the game is clearly aimed at having fun and taking potshots and easy victories instead of -impossible- careful planning, the cards get in the way.The interrupts are to be expected, plan around them. It's a game built to be won by stealing victories from your opponents. And, finally, it's fun, at least it was the first ~10 matches I had.
