What changes do you like/hate

I hate that battleshock doesn't force units to shoot snapshots and that WS/BS/A are still tied to the weapon instead of the model.

Can't find out about how the support keyword works in the section dedicated to how ability keywords work. Can't find it in the section it points to, either. Apparently I'll have to wait until a completely separate list building PDF comes out to see those. You know, instead of just having an ability keyword in the ability keyword section.

There will have to be, the rules are a mess.
>>
>>98139317
He wants to read the specific restriction that forces a support unit to be assigned to a unit and not be taken alone.
>>
>>98139317
Tell me anon. Where in those rules does it talk about how support and leader differ? They've talked about support being forced to attach to units while leader has the choice, but as that is written it seems they just allow for 1 of each in a single unit.
>>
>>98139328
Well I'd say there is no such forcing then, you want your Apothecary or whatever running around on his own then let him
>>
>>98139319
Ok but shit like Gone to Ground is fucking huge for those retards to put it into a faq.

>Important Note: There are some changes to Hidden between what’s in the rule book and the updated version of the rules that’s going to be pushed to the app, specifically that areas with only Light features are eligible for Hidden and the addition of the Gone to Ground rule. If you are reading this and thinking it’s slightly different to what you’ve seen elsewhere, that might be why!
>Gone to Ground rule. If a model is Hidden, their unit did not make any ranged attacks, and is not fully visible to the attacking model because of an intervening Dense/Solid terrain feature, then Detection range is reduced by 3” to 12”.
>>
>>98139335
Support was literally meant to prevent that so they can make apothecaries 30 points and not have retards spamming them as lone ops.
>>

Can anyone find the new big guns never tire rule? I'm losing my mind here
>>
>>98139280
pros:
new rules layout is really good
terrain rules are better, no more L shapes.
Hidden is a cool mechanic
New detachment system is awesome

cons:
game will be extremely lethal again, we powercrept all our previous fixes
votans army rule is going to be a liability
we didn't get wargear back

Not a bad idea, but that would make it way too punishing on top of the new battleshock rules. It would probab ly have to be that, and the old rules, or what we get now, both would be oppressing, and not very fun.

I run all of these models. In firestorm, or forge father seekers, you can make good use of the transport capacity by putting 3 eradicators in the Repulsor Executioners. They can jump out when someone is silly enough to shoot at it, and it'll ruin their day.

>>
>>98139341

Multiple reviewers have already confirmed it. As I said to the other anon, it's just that the army building rules are separate from this pdf. If you look there is also no rule about not being able to take a hundred copies of the same unit, or five Calgar, or about detachments etc.

Warbands tend to at least have a ship to their name, so when the Black Legion comes knocking they can technically muster quite the navy however disorganized it is. Legions like the Iron Warriors, Word Bearers, and even the Death Guard where fracturing wasn’t as extreme could in theory still have more formal logistics behind them to mount opposition to the Imperium.

These are the "core rules". They're doing one of those things where they split all the rules into bite-sized chunks so they can say they're offering the "core rules" for free when you still need to get a bunch of books to actually play the game.

Right? Unfortunately it's one of those changes they're incredibly unlikely to ever roll back. It just feels so lame that S and WS and A aren't at all connected to a faction's statline anymore, they're just game constructs. If a unit needs to hit at S6 AP-2 D2 by golly they will.

Wargear costs seem to be tied to major changes in units. Like Guard Tanks aren’t gonna have a new datasheet for each cannon option, it’s all gonna be one datasheet and you pay for what cannon you want. The issue is that this seems to be the only example thus far, I wanna see if it effects special weapons some units can bring.
>>
>>98140001
>new CSM just spring forth from the Warp fully formed whenever the Chaos gods feel like it?

No, but the Chaos gods often revive dead CSM when they feel about it. Usually if you are a particularly favoured champion or if they find it funny, they are not going to revive shiteater 9467 that just got fragged by a guardsman, it's a big deal.
>>
>>98139698
Nah. They're gonna setup the Emperor splitting into multiple pieces, one rising from the Golden Throne as the Emperor-as-worshiped, while the other will reform around the Star Child of the Emperor-as-existed. This triggers a civil war with at least one faction claiming both are not the Emperor because the Emperor is supposed to be interred on the Golden Throne rather than walking about.
>>
>>98140026
>Like Guard Tanks aren’t gonna have a new datasheet for each cannon option, it’s all gonna be one datasheet and you pay for what cannon you want.

No, the example was guard vehicles having a base cost and one if you take Sponsors. You are still going to get a datasheet for each main option.

God i despise phone use at the table. I understand the ease and convenience, but it clearly encourages players not to *learn* their fucking rules.

No, Carlos, I don't appreciate your having to look up the buffs your warlord gives your battleline unit. You should know that already.

Mind to explain how? I'm playing 40k for almost 20 years now and I never had any problem with zoom-zooms not remembering their rules. Players my age flipping through outdated books and making up rules was notorious though.

Guys I think the cinematic also showed us the warzones we will see in 11th. Fatrak said his source told him the fourth tyrannic war was gonna continue its development in 11th and the tyranids got a prominent role in the cinematic.

So basically 11th is gonna be marines, mechanicus and IG mostly from the imperial side AND we also see a titan. Guess what's also strong rumor? Plastic titans this edition. Xenos will be focused on orks, necrons and tyranids with a small role for eldar and the ynnari. Chaos is back with a focus on the black legion I guess to continue the plotline of the arks of omen.

We really don't know just how long Genestealers have been in our galaxy, their presence on Ymgarl well preceding the Tyranid attack on Tyran indicating they could have been here even longer before that, along with a bunch of other tidbits here and there. Also nothing about that art indicates anything about the planet it is found on. That could be a world where man has been living a caveman life since the Age of Strife.

>>98139965
Devlan has been a dead planet for like 300 years, this isn't a new story it's adding detail to an established one (like how 40k lore used to be). There was no good ending for the Imperials here because we already knew the outcome, the interesting part was the how.

I do not think GW is going to get back into the superheavy game. It doesn't fit their business model for plastic kits anymore, the exception of course being Knights because of how deeply invested they are in the range. They just don't design new sets like the Stompa or Baneblade anymore. They make big ones, sure, but it's more like the Emissary or the new mid-sized knight. Big enough to be flashy but still smaller than the old big boys (and somehow more expensive).

Ballistus are meta
Redemptors are good
Like 99% of Space Marine lists all run 3/4 of this box, the only reason it is still available is that space marine players already have three of each of these. So if you’re going to start space marines fresh, this is THE box to get.
Pick up some hellblasters and blade guard vets and you almost have a full army.

>>
>>98140262
It's the editional Eldar/Ynnari humiliation ritual.
Based on the last few years it has been very obvious that GW has been trying to sweep the Ynnari under the rug and pretend they never happened.
Like they repurposed all their models into being Corsairs too.
And we know that is exactly what happened because Yriel's model has him with a new helmet that didn't exist before, it was a deliberate design change. And that helmet is intentionally aping off the Visarch helmet, Visarch who is a Ynnari character first and foremost.

Also many people forget that Yriel WAS part of the Ynnari for a while as well, and GW only very recently decided to change Yriel's character where he turned his back on the Ynnari and fuck off to do his own thing.
Meaning the helmet addition makes sense, since Yriel was originally going to be part of the Ynnari faction.

Rotation shouldn't be free. Rotation should cost movement distance based on what type of vehicle it is. For example, treaded vehicles that would be able to turn on a dime would only have to "pay" 1 inch of movement distance for each rotational move while wheeled vehicles would have to sacrifice 2 or 3 inches of movement to rotate in order to simulate them having to take wider turns to rotate. Also, I would limit rotational moves to 45 degrees per rotation.

>So whats the verdict on 11th edition?
it's not out

Whats the story about?
It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries The Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the Master of Mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die.

Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in his name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants - and worse.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

>the same way that stub-gun is for solid rounds
Yet auto weapons are separate the same way plasmas and meltas are different from las(er) weapons.
>as far as the munitorum is concerned
Munitorum is very concerned with standardization so that any regiment from anywhere in the galaxy can be equipped with any lasgun from any other part of the galaxy as well as power packs from a third part of the galaxy, and they all work.
>>
>>98140669
Lasguns are from Dune, like everything else.

No the lore of them suddenly being projectile "light" weapons is to take a chip from Star Wars to be more attractive to SW fans.

Are autoguns and stub guns used interchangeably in terms?
I’m not sure if any codex paragraph has addressed this.
Stubbers eject shells and autoguns don’t, but they’re both solid slug slingers.
I’m okay being corrected if I am wrong here.
Bonus points for lore source citations even if they are no longer canon.

My assumption is that the Munitorium considers ANYTHING that runs off of standard-issue power packs a Lasgun.

Sometimes they are rolled into a single category, other times they are considered separate entities. Its not even clear if this is the result of the authors messing it up or whether there is confusion in-universe.

we discussed this the other day, it used to be that autoguns are caseless more modern guns, while stub guns are any gun you'd see today. But slowly GW started putting cases on autoguns and started calling Stub guns anything with a large caliber for its size.

I think darktide might be why.
It is also probably from some rpg books where autoguns and stubbers (if the terms are interchangeable) can get exotic rounds or even special rounds that give them some kind of advantage over lasguns.
So some people debate about autoguns being “superior” in stopping power and killing things but the lasgun winning because rechargeable battery magazines lessens the logistical nightmare of keeping a guard regiment’s ammunition from running dry.
>>98140871
Drum fed shotguns exist.
While I like the old ripper gun designs I think the current rippers are the best.

It was certainly an advantage but not too overwhelming most of the time. It was pretty uncommon for an entire unit to get wiped out in a single turn, unless it was badly outmatched, like 5 tactical marines vs a 10-unit of Banshees. Usually what it meant is that you had to take your lumps before you could fight back, and hope enough of your guys survived to put a dent into the higher-init unit before getting cut down so that your follow-up could take care of them. It was also pretty common that the trade-off for being a high-init unit was you better make sure not to be taking a lot of hits in return, because if that STR8 power fist lands it won't matter how many wounds your thousands-year-old eldar exarch leader has, he's getting gibbed.

Failure to feed is the most common malfunction and that would totally happen on a caseless firearm. Another one is a failure to fire, which would require you to remove the cartridge from the chamber. If you have to disassemble a live firearm in combat every time such a problem arises, you're in trouble. Same with removing the cartridge from the chamber when you empty the firearm. Clearly visible ejection port is also a convenient way to inspect the chamber.

The artist clearly used an AK as reference, complete with bolt being left in the white and AK-style safety on the side. I somehow doubt there is totally a charging handle on the other side. It's irrelevant anyway. We know damn well that some GW writer jotted down that autoguns fire caseless ammo because it sounded cool and the artists have absolutely no idea that these things aren't supposed to be flinging brass all over the place, so they just use normal firearms as a template.

I'm in the process of kitbashing a crucible character and I have to decide on the loadout so I can build my dude appropriately. I'm building an Eldar Skyrunner, which is a flying unit with advance and charge. Picrel are the options.

I'm thinking a shuriken cannon for my ranged weapon, 2x dragon fusion pistol for my pistols, and a star lance for my melee. But I can have a second melee weapon. Maybe a banshee blade just for the anti infantry? Or the chainsword?

The other issue is actually arranging the weapons. The shuriken cannon can be underslung, but my dude is going to have his hands full piloting the bike and holding the lance, and there's still two pistol and a melee weapon to deal with. My first thought is to have the pistols in a gun belt across his chest. Then the backup melee weapon could be holstered on the bike somehow?
The other thing I was thinking of doing is making a big holster for the lance itself (on the bike), then have him shooting with a pistol. This would be easier to magnetize since the lances are a little heavy for that.
Or I could have him not even have his hands on the handlebars.

On one hand, god I wish, such a better game.
On the other, we'd be getting Mandalorian and Grug ships right now. Better to have the game be dead.

>>98141234
if he's going to have a very tall helmet you might integrate the pistols into the helmets, perhaps a draconic helm with two small barrels in the dragon's mouth?
>>
if we're being realistic, guns should all be bullpupped in 40k

Although I guess using the shittier layout is more grim and dark and indicative of the Imperium's retarded adherence to ineffective tradition. Much like real life militaries.

Autoguns and stubbers are interchangable terms in 40k at this point. GW doesn't care about the distinction.
Stubber/autogun in 40k in essence just means
>"a 21st gun that uses a chemical propellant to fire a metallic projectile out of the barrel"

armageddon is a stones throw away from terra, and so if armageddon falls, the orks can begin using armageddon as a base of operations and start battering at terra.

It's weird that despite its proximity to Terra, the Ullanor Crusade (Ullanor Prime was renamed Armageddon) happened just prior to the Horus Heresy and was such a massive undertaking it earned Horus the title of Warmaster. Must suck for all the legions that almost got destroyed fighting some space foxes only for Horus to wipe out some Orks and become known as the greatest ever.
