What's your worst models breakage debacle?Went to get some models out of storage a week ago. The case was up against the door so when I opened it, this happened.
>painting a Trollbloods army for a work month long painting challenge >leaving the game store with my tray of models after finally finishing them last day>drop them on the concrete
>have a player who just cannot roll dice like a human>she does this fucking karate chop spin thing abd launches dice at the table>tell her she's going to break something>in the middle of people telling me Im being too nervous and we played hundreds of times without a problem, she slams the bridge of her hand into my $130 mini i painstaking painted and set up for their enjoyment Spidicules legs snapped and will never be the same again.
Not worst breakage just mind numbingly stupid >Showing my nurgle aos army to a friend just getting in to the game >He's looking at the maggoth rider with the stream of vomit sitting on the table>"You can pick it up">Picks it up BY THE TIP OF THE VOMIT>Breaks instantlyNever let him touch my shit again, he was a dickhead in other ways
>>98177979Luckily nothing too serious after painting (although I did have one Battletech mech where an arm just randomly popped off while sitting on the table), but I have dropped some metal models after priming. That's why I pin everything nowadays. It's still not good to drop anything, but they won't just explode into all their constituent parts. The worst thing I've ever had to deal with is an old Monsterpocalypse Martian tripod thing that has legs too spindly and weak to hold its own body weight and either snap or bend and then snap if it's so much as tilted a bit. It's sitting in a drawer because I can't be fucked to do the necessary reinforcement it needs.
>>98177979I've been lucky enough (or generous enough with glue and varnish) to avoid anything so far.Paint spills on the other hand are a different matter. There are some student dormrooms out there which I would bet still have shaded furniture.
>>98177979Long ago I got a model of a dragon for my highschool girlfriend for christmas, who liked dragons via Dragonriders of Pern. I think it was a Ral Partha dragon I got from ebay. Anyway, it was the last year before the end of highschool and being a dumb teenager I promised to paint it but moved to uni before getting it painted because summer. So I painted it and mailed it back even though we broke up. I did not package it properly and it arrived broken, which she took to be a symbol of our relationship break up. I spent several hours talking long distance with her over the phone while we both felt fucked up and bad. It was weird. I should have pinned the dragon and packaged it better.
>>98177979I was painting my homebrew Space Marine chapter well over a decade ago. What I used to transport them was a tupperware tub lined with foam and paper towel so I could take it to safely to battle. One day, my little sister got a new ragdoll kitten, who decided to promptly knock over said tub full of my army and the few pewter models I had, like the turret of my Baal Predator and classic Death Company models became wrecking balls. My entire force was knocked to pieces. The worst part was my sister watched this happen, and everyone was upset with me blaming my sister and the cat... Evil sibling. Pic sorta related, 'cause I have this model of Carnifex as well, totally made out of pewter.
>>98179517>"You can pick it up">Picks it up BY THE TIP OF THE VOMITI agree, you were mind-numbingly stupid here.
>>98179431>people telling me Im being too nervousyou have no friends in that place
>>98179887This could potentially be worse then a model breaking. I have a particularly curious sphynx cat (was left with me) that knocked over a pot of blood angels contrast and made blood trails along the entire house as I chased him for a bath. Shit does not come off easy.
> Hanging out with 2 school friends round the house of one of them> He keeps his model in a 6ft display cabinet in his room> Other friend goes to pick up a metal dread from the top of the cabinet> Drops it> On to the warhound titan which was standing on the floor in front of the cabinet
>>98183865Oh god. Was it repairable?
>>98177979My Heldrake, enough said really, the wings are way too heavy to be supported on a small section of talon and then letting gravity weigh it down.Dont have a pic of it but needless to say, its in several pieces. As cool as the Heldrake is, it needs a remake simply to make the kit actually stay together and not fall apart
>>98183886Yeah, the dread was actually the worst of from it, the main carapace/top section of the warhound took the brunt. Said friend still has the warhound and recently repainted it
