Seems like a neat ruleset. Legos and esp Lego knockoffs seem like cheap way to build fun terrain boards and big armies. And the rules for sieges seem fun where you physically tear down walls, etc.Just trying to see if anyone has tried it. In before buy an ad - rules are free and have been around for over 20 years so not exactly selling anything.
>>98186422It makes no sense to play brickwars. It's a shitty ruleset. But you can use fake Lego minifigs for any other ruleset too.
>>98186466Why is it shitty?
>>98186422>Any anons try brikwars?Yeah, i liked it>Seems like a neat ruleset. Definitely, it plays quickly and doesnt take much to learn, but it definitely has some quirks that arise from newer/more advanced chapters being written including FAQs and rules updates without those corrections being made in the preceeding chapters. It's more a quirk of the gane than a problem though, and its super flavourful>Legos and esp Lego knockoffs seem like cheap way to build fun terrain boards and big armies.Lego is definitely not cheap lmao>And the rules for sieges seem fun where you physically tear down walls, etc.You can, but in my experience minifigs dont live long enough for tactical sieges.
>>98186422No, but i still dont understand why none of the Lego wargaming rules (brick warse, mobile frame, there was something about space ships too)Are utilising the Lego dice, i bet you could come up with some pretty nifty rules for custom dice faces
>>98189451>forgot picrel
>>98186422I never play with rulesets invented by others cause it's always more fun to invent my own.
>>98186422I think if Lego pulled TTRPG/Wargame with their own IP. They might be able to pull something off. (Especially since it be easy to add your favorite characters from their licensed sets in as your PC and all.) However, the problem with Lego at the moment is everyone at the top isn't a lego person. They just some corpo with the number go up mentality. Plus, if anyone was to make something like that for them would be screw over as they would get maybe at best their name in the back of the rule sheet as head writer or something. Plus they're purging all their old molds cause it too "costly" to keep them. I mean, you think they would be smart enough to resell them to make it worth keeping the old models. Especially on their IPs they own but they're too dumb to due special events with them and all to drive interest.
>>98189451>>98189455So like how would this work differently from normal dice? If you're allowing players to have custom dice faces that sounds like a recipe for disaster unless you're putting very strict limits on how many and where they can apply the special faces. And if it's ultimately just cosmetic using normal D6's is fine because they'll be massively more affordable.
>>98191061Lego has turned into a piece bloated adult toy company. The days of them selling battle packs of droids or clones are over.
>>98186422DID SOMEBODY SAY BRIKWARS?!?!>>98186579>but it definitely has some quirks that arise from newer/more advanced chapters being written including FAQs and rules updates without those corrections being made in the preceeding chapters.I mean Mike is a graphic designer, not a game designer...>>98189451>>98189455I mean I got a couple off Bricklink, but never did anything with the custom facings...>>98191667>The days of them selling battle packs of droids or clones are over. Those are the ONLY Battlepacks they sell these days!
>>98191663Seems obvious that the dice would work well for RPG characters, hero-types in a wargame, or fighting-game style combat. In an RPG you'd start with regular dice and swap faces as you gained abilities, which you could use only in rounds when you rolled them; in the other cases choosing abilities would simply be character-building and presumably points-based. You'd need 3-5 dice per character for this to make sense though, six faces isn't enough.
>>98191667You can just order the minifigs from china in bulk these days.
>>98191956>You can just order the minifigs from china in bulk these days.I mean that is exactly why Lego is a bloated adult toy company, the cost of doing business with China.
>>98189451>>98189455Yeah, its not like Heroica didn't show everybody how to do it. I played Frostgrave with 3d6 replacing the d20, some of the treasures were new dice faces that would do wacky shit when you rolled it.
>>98191663I tried making a space combat system with it some time ago, the idea was that each side has 4 pips, 24 pips in total, when making the spaceship out of legos, you assign some bricks to be for Attacks in red, some Blue for shields and Green for maneuvering, and place that much pips of the color on the faces, and in your turn what the ship can do is determined by what you rolledc(if you rolled a face with 1 blue, 1 green and 2 reds, you can block 1 attack, move once, and deal 2 damage) with damage removing the bricks and therefore pips. With ship size/class determining how much dice, and therfore pips you get
>>98192530>Attacks in red, some Blue for shields and Green for maneuveringSounds a little derivative of Mobile Frame Zero, but since it isn't whole ass die and you can assign your pips it might not fall into the same traps.
