Aim High
But he aimed to the middle?
>>98192176>4th panelIs Serini FINALLY going to do something? I swear, if she sits out this fight, the Order should just fucking kill her. What a piece of garbage she is.
Hey, so when did OOTS dialogue accidentally, like, become horrible? I guess Rich just doesn't know his own onions. I'm going to pop down the 2005 archives when the dialogue actually was decent.
>>98192433I remember when Haley used to be funny.
>a new comic on my birthdayToday has become slightly better.
upscale.and look! a semi-useful paladin, using fully 1/7 of the available resources!
>>98193405I mean, exactly what other eye ray is better here? There's no chance in hell of a Fort save ray making it through Thog's save, inflict wounds just tickles enemies of their level, and sleep or fear don't turn Thog into a direct issue for Nale
haha implied prostate tailjobnale(moar liek niles, the gayest non-gaylord "male" name) is gay now
>>98193610>had sex with a woman repeatedlythis is gay to you?
>>98193484I woulda charmed thog and hit Sabine with disintegrate and slow if limited to 3 per arc... Otherwise hit Sabine with literally everything else. I mean, what's the downside?
>>98193792they just established they're not getting through Sabine's spell resistance Also Sabine's fort save is not bad eitherthey've also only now charmed Thog so it's not yet their turn
>>98192433Dialogue went to shit as soon as they hit the desert. It's a stark difference. People consider the trip to gnome town to be when this comic turned to trash but the seed were planted during the desert, which is wild because that arc is actually REALLY god damn good.
>>98193893>Dialogue went to shit as soon as they hit the desert.I don't know about thatTarquin's and especially Malack's exchanges and monologues flow really wellmuch better scene than Durkon–Redcloak negotiations btw
>>98193792Sunny is paralyzed, he can't really target more than one ray at a time right now.
>>98194086You're right that a lot of the dialogue was still good, I should have emphasized that this is where seeds were planted, not that it was instantly shit. But the desert is where the WORDSWORDSWORDS really started to settle in.
>>98193711women are gay
>>98193711>>98194455
>>98193484Rich isn't aware that the 3.5 Beholder can use all ten rays each round, though only three rays in any one direction.Rich also thinks a high level 3.5 Barbarian is going to fail a DC18 Will save while raging.
>>98192433It was the art change. Overnight. No doubt about it. The writing and art are inextricable. He used to spend his time and mental energy sketching out the banter and setups and now he spends it arranging things in his modeler. The tradeoff for this is that the comic now has an art power level that still rounds to 0.
Wouldn’t the paladin be in danger of falling, subverting the will of a sapient being through magic to force him to attack his own ally? It doesn’t seem hugely honourable
>>981948011. The Beholder is paralyzed, so presumably its aim is worsened.(also it doesnt like to use the deadly options)2. Thog not raging. Thog having time of life.
>>98195452People always forget charm isn’t the same thing as mind puppeting, OOtS included. It influences someone to have a temporary prioritization of your life and well-being as your friend, but you aren’t telling them how to do it. Thog could have just as easily tackled Sabine out of the way as he did with hurling his axe, he just chose the latter cause that’s his personality.
Didn't read this one or the thread because I'm years out of date on this comic but it still amuses me how I can glance at this comic in the thumbnail and still tell how slowly the plot has been moving
Games?
>>98192203I fucking hate her. Glad I'm not the only one.
Another classic episode, thanks Rich!
>>98192176>>98192203She seems to be tackling the wall. Might be important, let her cook.
>Catch axe with back of head!Delightful.
>>98196869Given that this wall is one she had designed and probably riddled with traps/monsters to set off... that makes sense.
Has anyone yet divined the narrative purpose of Minrah? She tags along and does literally nothing else. There's no obvious narrative reason for her to be a member of the party. Is Rich planning something big for her or did someone push for Rich to include her even with no plan?
>>98202651maybe something with Belkar? she's the only one who only knows him in his post-asshole phasealthough that diminishes the narrative weight of her opinion of him if anything, so I dunno somebody mentioned in a past thread that mechanically, she's Durkon's cohort or something
